Had read this somewhere in the past but handy to get reminder.
Always a bit weary disconnecting the battery on the van
Normal advice is to leave for a few minutes after operating anything electrical to let the ECUs to go to sleep before disconnecting
Not sure you would want that if your trying to get the key to operate again?
Never had these kind of problems with Morris 1000

After disconnecting the earth lead I put the key in the ignition and switched on. ECU gave a few clicks and set some yellow lights flashing then went quiet. After reconnecting the battery the only thing needed doing was to reset the radio presets.
