Ducato Cab Floor

Is it just mine or are the Ducato cab floor fittings bloody useless? I get that it should facilitate easy access for maintenance but the push-insert bases of the catches simply pull away and replacing with new ones, doesn't make any difference. Also the floor has so many nooks and crannies that I'm sure I'm carrying several kilos of grit and sand.

What options are there? Love some pictures for ideas.
