We are in the process of uprating our Carthago. SVS have told us what size tyres we need, but we need to know the wheel capacity. We have taken a wheel off to look at the rear for any information but we have not found anything that mentions weight.
We have Maxi Alloys( We think). I have trawled the web with no results so I am asking the fonts of all knowledge.

Was there no makers part numbers etc on the wheels?

Ring Mick at SAP Doncaster he knows all about it i was talking to him about it 2 weeks ago and he can source you wheels and tyres at good rates

What carthago have you got and what weight are you going from and too

I have just uprated my carthago

I have been talking to Mick at Harrogate this morning. He suggested looking on the rim. I am waiting for him to come back to me as he was busy on his stand when I rang him back.
It’s an E Line, was 4500kgs, we can change it to 4600 on the existing tyres but to get it to 4800kgs we need to change tyres from 116 to 120 load rating. It’s at this stage that we are getting conflicting advice as to whether we need to change to rims as well.

Do you know if the alloy wheels were original fit by Carthago ?

If so, a Carthago dealer could possibly make enquiries for you with regards to load capacity.

With regards to tyre load index, it's recommended by "so called" tyre experts to choose a tyre with a load index with a rating based on half the maximum permissible axle load + 10%. That's what I do, gives me additional peace of mind :D

If you want to buy after market alloy wheels for the Ducato Maxi they are rated at 1250kg. But not sure if that helps the OP.

@Techno is the one to answer this for you.

I learnt from him that if the alloys are original fit then they have to be able to take any tyre that will fit them. Otherwise they have to have a load rating written on them.

To get to 4800kg have you got to have air suspension fitted????

The tyres are original fit. We need 2700 kg across rear axle. Yes we have full VB Air and yes it’s the same Mick, we saw him at Harrogate show this morning.

Alutec make a alloy wheel with the loading you require
