Hi all
I have a Bailey Approach with an electric drop down bed. The bed is very slow to wind back up. The lockers that hang under it are empty and ll that is on the bed is the mattress.
When I wind it up I have to give it a helping hand for the last foot or so.
Is there a problem with this, or an upgraded motor available?
After years of caravanning I took the plunge and got my first MH last Easter. A 2015 that cost more than my first house but I love the unit, being a bailey fan already.
I joined your group last year and enjoy the advice (and abuse!) I look forward to reading the threads and the great community that seems to be out there.
Any ideas anyone?
Regards
Rick

Try and help if I can, is your battery fully charged?
Are any of the belts caught up, we had this and took the mattress off and notice some of the safety straps were caught up, once released and freed up it was ok 👍

Try checking nothing is snarled in the motor. I had this issue and it was a bit of the safety webbing that was caught. I lifted the mattress and cleared it. All sorted

Hi allybee6 by webbing do you mean the safety nets or the webbing straps that take the bed weight?

Hi ScubaGas I have exectly the same problem and its getting worse! Did you solve it?
Bailey in Bristol were little help. It seems as though I need a new motor. When I raise the bed I have to push from below or it stops. A new motor is over £600 plus VAT. Unbelievable as it is just a big wiper motor!

Is there a difference when on EHU than on Leisure battery?

Cheers🍻

Thanks for the responses everyone. Safety nets are well clear of everything, no difference when on EHU so I've ruled out a battery issue. I gather Bailey no longer supply the motor (or any other parts) for this system so I guess I'm going to have to strip this one down. I can get to the motor (and the long roller it drives) but how do I get to the suspension straps that must run across the ceiling to sheck the rollers/bearings there?

Have you checked the tracks in case something is binding. My Benimar had scoring due to misaligned brackets.
Electric motors can normally be refurbished/rewound at a fraction of new cost if the problem lies there.

Check the voltage at the motor as the bed is being lifted. It could be something as simple as a poor wiring connection (or wiring not up to the job).

The motor is still available, but only if you are in 'the trade'. Prima leisure sell them. the website shows 'no stock' because us mere mortals are not allowed to buy direct. the bed motor is available for purchase, however, it is only available to retailers or service centres with a trade account. The part number is 1101122

My bed is a little bit quicker on EHU than battery alone, but not much. I have contacted electrical motor specialists and have been told that they can rewind the motor. i tried to remove it. I propped up the bed so it didn;t fall on me once I released the motor but struggled to seperate it from the spindle. I have given up for the moment
There are no pulleys in the ceiling, all the moving parts are in the bed frame.

Thanks Scubagas - thats really helpful. I had a feeling replacing the motor would be a PITA so I'll check the voltage at the last connection point as suggested by tonyidle and if it needs a motor change I'll let a dealer do it!
