I'm at present on New England Bay caravan site. Rather unfortunately and with very little effort I misjudged the tail swing on the van as I moved away from a fence I'd parked next to. The result was a detached and split lower rear valance. For the moment I've joined the Duct Tape customising group of owners but when I return home I'd like it fixed. It is fairly thin GRP and can be repaired after removal from the van so i need to know of repairers in S Cumbria or N Lancashire. Any recommendations?

Your not the first and won't be the last but I bet your really annoyed with your self. Sat on a site in Spain at the moment looking at the wall I creased my front wing on back in 2008,,still annoys me.BUSBY.

Try to find a boat repair guy. If you go to a Motorhome or car repairers that will repair it then spray it. A boat guy will match the gell coat and do a proper repair.

Took a big chunk out of the front end of our last Hymer I found a local boat guy he was ½ price and did the job properly couldn't even see where he had repaired it from the back either.

You can’t be any more of a twat than the idiot we met coming back on the road from Hushinish. We stop opposite the passing place waiting for him to come and take the place. Nope the guy was insisting we cross over and move into it since we arrived first. So we ended up having a 5 minute stand off. In the end he pulled into the space and off he went. TWAT! Found out later @DIL7983 and @MicknMew experienced similar. We were 10 min apart on the road so not as if we were driving in convoy.

I hope you get your van repaired easily. A lesson learned, you will remember the swing in future. I did the same a few years ago .

Just make sure the do proper GRP repairs finishing it with Gel coat & not just filling & spraying.
I still think a boat repair guy is your best bet.

This is what I did to my last van (a big stone bench jumped out in front of it).

I had a big flower pot back into me in France, you would have thought it could see me I'm big enough. Someone came to my rescue with a roll of duct tape, so I never leave home without one now.

I don't think you really need to blank out "twit" in the title. No one here is that sensitive.

:p

I had a French Bund protector post rip my left mudguard and broke it in two. I was really annoyed as it was too low to see so I didn't and it was still there attached to my bodywork. I fixed it myself using a reinforcing plat some epoxy and filler.

I’ve met one like that too. They don’t seem to be able to think laterally!

Due to an email glitch my email hasn't left as yet & I've reconsidered - helped by the fact that the friend I'm travelling with (a tugger) lives in the same town as me and opposite a boat builder / repair specialist. So he'll be my first call once I'm home :). I definitely want a gel coat repair.

When we were in Scotland we had someone cross in front of use to get into the passing place on our side of the road.

I thought WTF

Sensible man.

If you were in a large vehicle and the passing place was on the small side, I’d be very happy for them to take the space.
