Anyone else driven Scotland in winter? Quite cold but the roads are mostly empty, the midges are no where to be seen and the views are so much more dramatic!
Over the next few weeks we are going to be posting videos on our YouTube channel of our time roughly driving the nc500 route.
For now, check out our latest video of us driving to the Isle of Skye last winter:

We enjoyed the challenge of snow and van living - Plus who doesn't love the odd snow ball being chucked around ✌️

Old wild camper in transit
Surly the snow gates are shut sometimes ? I think I remember a local leaving their village near Durness some years to go to Thurso and couldn’t get back for several weeks ?? After a heavy fall .

This was us a few years ago. We ran out of gas too but luckily the snow briefly stopped for us to make our getaway.

Few years
Were thinking of going up this winter - Aviemore and Cairngorms area
Just a bit concerned about how to manage our water - tanks not insulated or heater and fresh tank feeds the toilet - so probably going with no water and managing from bottles to drink and a spray for flushing the loo...

We made sure to drain the tanks beforehand just to be on the safe side and then carried a couple 5litre bottles on board for flushing drinking boiling etc. although at times that very much almost froze haha
