A 78-year-old man is in critical condition after his Dodge Caravan was struck by a motorhome Sunday afternoon near Mundare, RCMP say.

A motorhome westbound on Highway 16 pulled out to pass a second motorhome near the Highway 855 intersection at about 1:50 p. m., Vegreville RCMP said.

The minivan stopped at a stop sign before pulling into the highway, directly into the path of the oncoming motorhome. The driver of the minivan was airlifted with life-threatening injuries to University Hospital in Edmonton. His name was not released. The occupants of the motorhome were not injured.
