Just started up my Motorhome , turned on heater only to find water coming from rear pipe work tried to take off inside panel to investigate more but had to turn off engine as unsure because dash in way ??

hi welcome,

think you need to give a bit more info if you want some guidance.

what vehicle type / model
where is the water from exactly ( under the dash )
does it stop if you turn the heater back off?
etc etc
what advice do you particularly want ( example...how to remove the dash to get access etc )
then someone may be able to help out

I think you need to explain that a bit better. Is it the cab heater or the motorhome heating? What panel are you talking about?

I take it the water's coming from the vehicle's cab heater up under the dash ? If so, it's a right mare of a job removing all the dash to get at the matrix. Some might advise throwing a bit of Radweld in to see if that sorts it, but there will be others on here decrying it, but if it's already broken.....?

nothing wrong with a bit of rad weld.

if it started when the heater valve was operated then maybe the valve is leaking..

Welcome aboard ;)

Heater rubber hose either to or from the heater matrix unit.

Old fiat Ducato 1992 model ,4 berth , started up ,,, and put heater on ,,, water started to come out behind a plastic cover underneath housing the fan,, put my arm up underneath following a rubber hose as far as could get water running down ? Turned off heater and engine water stopped after a few minutes ,, re-started and it did the same so just turned off and left it ….

Sounds like a leaking/perished heater hose or perforated heater matrix.
Is the engine coolant level dropping/low?
Taste a tiny drop of the water on your finger. If it's sweet it's the taste of the antifreeze in the engine coolant.

At a guess, if you can run the engine with the heater off and there is no water leak then it is likely you will need to get at the heater matrix or control valve.
If it leaks when the engine is running and the heater is switched off then it is likely to be on the feed side to the heater valve or matrix.

Either way you are likely to have to remove parts of the dash.
