Hi there. We have an Eldiss Autoquest and the bottom drawer (under a single bed) is stuck. It’s not the button but we think the base of the drawer has collapsed. They seem to be very flimsy. Any idea how to get it open , cannot get access to the side or bottom of the drawer. Thanks

A photo would help, as I would think many, like me, don’t know the layout of your van.

It may simple have expanded with moisture in the air at this time of year
Cheap softwood and moist air don't mix
If possible leave it until the weather warms up and try again.

Is the problem that you can't get access to the drawer, or that you can't move it even though you have access?

With no access to sides and bottom, is there access through the top? I'm not familiar with the Eldiss Autoquest - can the cushions be removed or are they on a slide mechanism? Is there a lid to the drawer compartment, and if so how is it fixed?

Once you have access through the top, I can think of a few ways to try to move the drawer.

Very worst case scenarios:

If access proves to be totally impossible you may have to go through the front of the drawer :( as a last resort.

Check to see if you can get a replacement drawer front, if you can it makes things less stressful but get the replacement first! If not you will have to find trim to edge the hole you cut - both edges or replace the drawer front with a contrast.

Once you are in I would suggest you alter the drawer front to a drop down flap.

Just thought if you have access to the top of the drawer front could you get a hacksaw blade in and cut through the fastenings that hold the drawer front on?

I would still change the drawer to a cupboard with a drop down flap - and use small baskets to hold stuff inside the cupboard to make it easy to get things in and out. Even the best drawers collapse if the runners aren't up to the job or if you overload them (what me?????? never!!!!)

If you have to go in from the front, before you rip it all to pieces it may be possible to work out exactly where the fixings are by looking carefully at the drawer on the other side, that I presume you could open.

If you mark exactly where the fixings are, you could remove them by carefully drilling neat holes that can be filled with colour-matched plastic caps (available for kitchen/wardrobe units in DIY stores)

Maybe the drawer base has sagged in the middle but not at the sides. You could try sliding a thin blade like a paint scraper or trowel near the edge, and work it towards the centre to lift the drawer base at the front. Using two or three blades at different points may be required.

Hi and Welcome. You should be able to unscrew the front and base in one section.

Was thinking the same - but still glad if our collective wisdom helped out.

A "Thanks" would have been nice though.
