I uprated my motorhome from 3500kg to 3850kg using a company to do it lot of money,
I now would like to put it back to 3500kg can I do it myself and do it for free.

I've just had ours done by Van Weight Engineering at a a cost of £120. This was cheaper than normal because like you it had been uprated before and therefore it is easier to derate.

Download a VTG10 form from DVSA, a “notifiable alteration”
Fee is a fraction of what is being talked about
( your road fund licence will of course go up)

You might just be able to do it by completing the bottom of page 2 of your V5C and submitting it with a covering letter saying it was 3500kg originally and you wish to go back to that, certainly worth a try.
