We are planning a trip to France in September and aim to head for the Dordogne. Can anyone recommend a guide book for the area?

There is a rough guide to the Dordogne which we used last year and found it very useful.

We like sitting in the village of aubettere with a coffe or drink. You can park at the top of the hill and walk down in to the village, no assess for motor home. Or there is an aire or campsite by the river and walk up to the village.

+1 on Rocamadour, I have family in St Sozy, not too far from Rocamadour, and it is a lovely area.
Just one thing to watch, lots of sites close throughout September with many being closed by the end of the month. We stayed at a lovely site in Daglan,

There is a free aire at the top of the lift in Rocamadour we used a few years ago. The lift and footpath down into town are from the aire no need to pay for a campsite.

As above, we used this aire last Sept, its in a prime spot for Rocamadour, just go through upper Rocamadour and you will come to it.
Sarlat is also a must see place.
