We are off to the Dordogne at the beginning of April for a month.

Any recommendations of Aires in that area would be appreciated.

We don't need hook up or toilet facilities but would like somewhere with decent dog walking, bar/restaurant reasonably close for evening meals and obviously a Boulangerie for the morning breakfast baguette.

Any help appreciated.

You won't go far wrong with Beaulieu sur Dordodgne.

The aire is adjacent to the campsite and next door to the Rugby Club and Sports Ground.

The town has some lovely riverside views upstream of the weir.

The aire has EHU and is alongside part of the white water canoe course.

The campsite also had some lovely riverside pitches.

Souillac has a large free aire (GPS 44.891550° 1.476670°) and is a pleasant town with a huge and interesting church.

Martel aire (GPS 44.93934° 1.60811°) is close to the town. Lots of narrow streets and alleys and a big market square.

Just two to be going n with, I'm sure there will be many more.

Richard.

La Roque-Gageac aire is literally a stone's throw from the river itself.

Beynac et Cazenac just down the road has a MH tolerant overnight parking area a little way up the hill from the main street, and an interesting chateau.

I'm pretty certain you can overnight in the car park behind the chateau at Castelnaud la Chapelle.

Les Eyzies de Tayac Sirieul has one of our favourite aires, mainly because of all the surrounding prehistory. More than you can shake a spear at. Decent sized grassy plots rather than gravel or tarmac, near the Vezere river.

Sarlat le Caneda has a smallish tarmac aire at the top end of the town which is handy for a stopover but near a road.

At Saint Cyprien there's a tiny aire in what is basically a municipal car park - there are nicer ones elsewhere.

We've also stopped at the Perigueux aire but didn't stay overnight as we'd exhausted the town's possibilities in an afternoon.

The aire in the park at Le Bugue is a bit different - literally in the town park among trees, very pleasant. The rural life museum nearby is worth a look.

There's an aire in Montignac, which is where you have to book tickets at the tourist office for the Lascaux II cave art reconstruction just up the road. If you're visiting, don't go direct to the site - get your tickets in town first.

Bloody Hell we've done a lot of Dordogne aires - we must like the place :)

Many thanks for all the helpful posts of recommended Aires.

I've jotted them down and will try and visit as many as I can.

Any more Aires suggestions welcomed.

Hi Keith ,
please let us know in a thread when you get back or while away , as we are (like @Mr B )sort of thinking of going to that area .
As @magicsurfbus says Saint Cyprien aire quite nice lovely village ,they had a market on while we were there ( very good), We also stopped at Perigueux aire during the day but didn't stay the night.
Also we can recommend Brantome aire & town.

We stayed at at a campsite just out side Sarlat le Canada 10 years ago, and thought it was a great area.
So now with the Moho we want to explore more :)
