Could not open the Hab door yesterday. Got in through drivers door and then with wife on out side and me on inside somehow managed to open it. Took door cover off and can’t see anything obviously broken. while door is open I can push lock down as if it were locked but can’t open with key. If in the unlock position I can open and close the door as normal just not lock it. It’s almost as if the barrel is the problem. Any suggestions please.

WD-40 is a solvent, not a lubricant and will, in fact, remove any type of lubricant that is left in the cylinder.

I am told that you should use a lubricant that has a silicone, graphite or Teflon base for key barrels. (y)

Wd40 will ease off the rust, 2 days later it can be packed with suitable grease

I had the same issue with my lock and from the first picture above you can see the lever that the pliers are holding has a spring attached behind it. Second picture shows the snapped spring . I sourced a replacement (had to modify it a bit) from ebay and all refitted and working fine.

Thanks for that info jimcg I will take a closer look. Did you take the whole lock off or manage to get to it by just removing part of it.

You can just unhook the two links that are in front of the lever that you need to remove to get better access. The levers held on by a small circlip and once its removed the lever just slides off and out and the snapped spring will come off with it. After that its just a case of trawling through ebay to find a replacement torsion spring with around the same dimension for a quid or two which is a lot better than buying a new lock.

This is a bit of a blurry pic of the broken spring and lever when it’s removed

Still trying to locate a spring for this lock. I have not taken the lever out yet but a piece of the old spring fell out so I know it’s that spring that has broke. Does look flimsy. I have another similar spring but it’s a lot thicker dont know if that would do it or put pressuure on lock when trying to lock door. At the moment I can open and close the door from inside and outside so don’t want to take fully apart I case I can’t do that. Can’t even find a replacement door lock online.

This is the ones I bought off eBay they need a little bit of modding but seems to work fine.
