Hi all. Just venting but I have had another person knocking on the house door asking if the motorhome was for sale.
My reply was succinct and not very polite.
We have signs up from council, trading standards etc that we don't buy goods or services at the door etc.
About twice a week it's happening now.
Anybody else have it or just down here.

We didn't get that far into the negotiation. He realised it wasn't for sale pretty quickly.

Go on - how much do you want for it……?!?;)

That tactic has been used by burglars and like to have an excuse to walk up your path and have a peek into the house, take care! :(

Yes thats why i had sliding locking gate put on drive, with a post box on the fence, after having a couple of chaps come down drive and down side of house looking in a skip that was on drive, they cant get in now 😬🤞
ps mum had a guy mooching round her bungalow, when i opened door he asked if i wanted tree cutting down i said no my son will do it,next day he came again😬was just about to open gate when said sons dog went bounding down path to meet him

Always wary of anyone coming down the drive. I have cctv covering the outside of the property. Not that it will stop them taking it if they want it. But everything just makes it a bit harder or more likely they will be caught.

Lots of notes on my windscreen. Plus a paddy every 3 months. He Thinks it is a merc. Ha ha it is a 1990 talbot express

I had three chancers last October asking if the m/h was for sale but none since, except a guy in my drive beside the m/h who said he was looking for his lost cat and could he check my shed. I asked him if I looked as though I'd come over on a banana boat. He certainly wasn't a local and had a mate with him who had a long fishing rod with tackle on it. Apparently it's handy to reach through an open window and hook up vehicle keys from on top of a fridge, worktop etc.

Whilst your camper is parked up at home, I reckon that the best anti theft device is writing “Don’t drive, G/box U/S” on the windscreen.
Or just 'Awaiting recovery' and a made-up phone number. ;)

Had 3 since Christmas, we are at the end of a cul-de-sac, so they must be driving right up and looking around

Did they have an "Irish" accent by any chance? I had one on my drive last Monday and he had a very "Irish" accent🤨

No mine was working just down the road and was passing .

BOTH of them.
I'm surprised they didn't offer to clear out your gutters or tarmac your drive at a special discount since they were working 'just down the road'.

Strange that. one said he was laying resin driveways. Did I want one ? Eeerrr no I have tarmac.

Yes, a well known trick. Never leave your keys for anything in view of a window.....or your letter box as this is another easy access, particularly to keys hung up on a key rack or placed on a hall table!!

I keep my gates locked and a post box on the gate for the postman. I used to get a lot of white van men claiming they were lost while looking around my property. Not any more.

That’s people knocking the door wishing to buy swifty from us.
not for sale and no there not looking inside either they both left non the wiser.
never been back .

I had one a few months ago - a nice Irish chap who seemed to just be interested in what was under the bonnet and got a little frustrated as he kept asking who designed the front end and I kept answering Pilote.

If you're really concerned perhaps a call to your local police? You probably won't get a response as such but it might trigger something, especially if they get more than one.

I phoned the crime stoppers line about a white van touring our area knocking on doors "fixing your roof" etc the reg number was Irish. They said they would send a car around and see what they were up to , I thought that was very responsive. The van had gone away from our area and I never saw a police car but at least it was recorded and I am sure if they had other reports the van would get pulled again and it's now also logged on the ANPR cameras.
