I am loading the MH. It's in the garden in the North Yorkshire sunshine. The keys are on the table and I can't open the door. The first time it happened the dealer said it was our fault and somehow we had locked the keys in , second time they told us to always park with the door out of the sun!!!.
When it cools down later it will probably open. I worry that we have popped out to the rubbish bin and it locks with Casper inside.
Has anyone else had the same problem and if so have you cured it.

Our carthago door wouldn’t close after we had levelling jacks fitted and made the van totally level
The door was slightly out of alignment. Any easy fix and never happened again

edit
Can you spray the door with some cold water to cool it down?

And did you ask what planet the bloke is from ?
Statements like that and my mind immediately says the person is by nature a scammer

The bloke is the service department of a main Carthago dealership. I contacted them in August about another problem, and I received an email to tell that they had no staff in the offices as they were working to government guidlines, this was a week after the vehicle had been in for a repair.

Cold water would help, but it’s the handle that pulls but doesn’t unlock the door. It’s been raining for the last hour so it now opens.

I hope you get plenty of rain while you're away. ;)

Have you tried pushing the door fairly hard inwards whilst pulling the handle ?
This double handed trick worked for us.

Although our Moho is different from yours, it's an issue we had too.

Thanks, I'll try that next time it happens.

its not the door jamming, it’s the handle not operating the latch.

Sounds like the rubber door seal may be making the door latch too tight against the keeper. If the handle works ok when you push on the door then it's the seal for sure. If the motorhome is fairly new, the seals may relax a bit over time but if not, then the door handle or latch needs shimming to take the pressure off the latch.
Take a look at the shut line of the door to the bodywork, if it's slightly inwards of lining up then shimming the latch would probably work.
Our Hymer door handles for lockers etc have a shim under the lock to set the distance properly for the right action on the keeper, perhaps they missed one out on your Carthago?

It’s worth looking at the inside of the door and compare the gap between the door and the frame
Chances are it’s closer to one side than the other

I saw someone get in theirs when this happened by pressing their knee at the bottom of the door (on the same side as the handle!) at the same time as pulling the handle. It worked for them every time.

My Hymer A class door can be difficult to open but a hefty push in at the top whilst using the handle always works. Now that I know how to open it I am happy that it is difficult :rofl:

I've had exactly the same problem on my Laika. Ultimately the dealer had to fit a new lock and latching mechanism under warranty.
I don't know what door Carthago use, but mine has the dreaded word 'Dometic' on the window!
