Hi All,

Some B... std has clipped the back of my Moho and cracked the corner, done a reasonable bit of damage. Happened in the night, person drove off no witnesses so I'm on my own with this one.

Anyone know of a place to get it fixed? Who would you recommed? Need a bit of help on this, dont want to go thru insurance.

Cheers

Actually you are not on your own Gaza.
Report it to the police and then get the MIB involved.
We all pay a bit on top of our insurance which goes to MIB who will cover damage done by hit and run drivers

A picture may help folk to suggest a repair place..
If the damage is fibreglass then a boat repair place would probably be best.
If the plastic is damaged then perhaps a replacement panel would be the best way ( if not the cheapest ) for you

since 2014!
I have to confess that, other than the Men In Black, I had never heard of the MIB, and a web search is quite confusing, too! Searching on Motor Insurers Bureau filters out a lot of misleading stuff, and provides some interesting reading.

As you seem to be in an area which is likely to be covered by CCTV cameras from various organisations, the advice to call in the police ASAP is very sound. They may even be able to identify the vehicle that caused the damage! Prompt reporting to the police also seems to be a requirement for receiving anything from the MIB!

Hope you manage to sort this out sooner, rather than later.

May not be as bad as expected from what you describe. We haven't seen any pics yet, but don't discount just going to an ordinary body shop for a quote. Motorhomes don't always need bespoke motorhome repairers to fix them.

Some 30 years ago I dealt with insurance claims.

Back then MIB offered assistance to those injured by uninsured drivers. Infact most of the time they would "allocate" a claim to the last known insurer (of car or driver).

BUT they only dealt with personal injury (not soft tissue or whiplash!) and not damage to vehicles or property.

So I'm pretty sure the OP is on their own in fixing this damage.

Of course I could be wrong...

If you are thinking of going to Morocco, wait until you get there!
We had a couple of crcked amd split panels on the back corner of a Rapido that was going to cost over £2k to fix in the UK.
130euros in Agadir and nobody could tell it had ever been damaged.

not so newbie anymore - since 2016
If it's GRP, feel free to ping me a few photos and I will see if I can help out.

About a year ago I put together some photos and short description of making a GRP replacement panel for a boating forum I am a member of, happy to re-post something similar here if anyone is interested.
