Don't forget that you can get discounts in many shops by being a member of one of the clubs. I have just bought some walking shoes and got 15% off shoes that were already in a sale at Ultimate Outdoors with C&Cc saving around £12, (I expect that they would also have taken C&MC).
It helps to offset the cost of the membership.

C&CC as well and if you have a Cotswold card you get a 2 year unconditional guarantee on purchases. Took a pair of expensive Sandles back last year that were 23 months old, they just had a bit of loose stitching on them, they gave me a new pair without question.
