I have one of theses which does activate the alarm, and one which seems dead / does not operate the alarm.

Can i open it to insert battery

or is it more complicated than that ?

Yes you can change the batteries. It takes two CR1616

The best way to open it is whack it with a hammer.

It splits down the middle, look closely and you'll see the joint.

I found it best to insert the sharp side (not the point) of the blade on, eg fruit knife, into the joint at the top of the keyring loop and lever it lengthwise. Moving it around as it starts to come apart.

It just snaps back together again.

No code \ programming required.

Exactly as @ Gellyneck and Landy Andy says, When I split mine open to change the battery I took a few photos as I went along to ensure it all went back together ok.
