Off today to do a five stage route in Don Quixote country...weather looks good, averaging 25Β°c by mid afternoon.... first nights hotel booked....,,πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡¦πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘
Hotel! What's that all about, sounds like cheating.

In my youth I've overnighted in caves , tents, bus shelters ,in the open, just about anywhere imaginable, but as I'm in my 70s with pension funds galore...we like a bit of comfort....must say tonight's hotel being 3 star only just about outranks some of the caves I've slept in...but it will do.... it's on route...the food stops have been first class.... basic, good Spanish food..we await the arrival of the other two riders, who were delayed in leaving Murcia due to a personal issue....they are only 17 km behind us...

And now what we all have been waiting for...A Spanish Windmill..one of many in this area...and was there enough wind to turn the sails....of course there was....62 km riding against it today confirmed this...πŸ˜€πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡¦πŸ€”πŸ‘

After a visit to a local tapas bar and 9 hours sleep we are ready for the day ahead...shorter than yesterday but now getting quite hilly..hope the wind is behind us , not like yesterday's....photo below is the destruction of numerous tapas....

A much easier ride today, but the best so far... we've entered a tourist trap today..."water"...however it's a beautiful place and quiet just now..
Tomorrow we have another fairly tough section to complete the circuit...then a drive home to Murcia..

It's the start of a brand new day...our last one too..about 60km but quite hilly...back to the car parked in Munera.
Should get back to Murcia early evening..it's been a good short tour in a greatly overlooked area...this region provides a network of great value Camperstops...just pay for what you need...secure also...off downstairs now for breakfast before mounting up and heading onwards..πŸ‘πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡¦

Well done, looks like it was great fun. (y)

Still able to sit down then ?
Looks like a great trip so far.
I'm actually sitting comfortably right now back at our apartment in Murcia...finished the route this afternoon...another 60km section today with a few hills....we decided to do the route on Gravel bikes where our companions used eMtbs....all went well....πŸ‘πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡¦

This is the sort of route we’d like to do. Do you think gravel or mountain bikes better bet?

Some sections would be overkill on mountain bikes... Where some sections were tough on our gravel bikes... especially today, lots of rock to tackle... perhaps a hardtail mountain bike with road friendly tyres would be the ideal...

I'm totally amazed by what I can hammer my gravel bike through. I've got 650b wheels and 47mm tubeless tyres. Blue route mountain bike tracks are no problem. Lots of reds are possible if you keep your descent speed down. It's easily more capable than my MTB hardtails from 20 years ago. And the tyres aren't even that slow on tarmac because tubeless rolls so well.

Don't have too many manufactured bike trails in Spain to try this, but we do have one hell of a lot of rocks, stones and other debris to contend with, I'm happy to have completed all of the 300km trail only getting off on one occasion to push/carry over a water washed stone filled gully.. one of the other riders pushed this section too....on a full-sus bike..πŸ‘πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡¦

You all did well to complete it Martin, we know that doing something everyday takes it out of you, some people think because we have electric bikes it's easy πŸ™„ some would be in for a shock. 😁
Well done looking forward to the next adventure. 😎 Bob.

Thanks Bob, we do have Electric bikes, but what we used on this tour was not a full power type..they were back in Murcia...we use a bike with both half power motor/battery..this gives little assistance to the rider....the terrain on the last day was spectacular and quite testing...feeling a tad tired this morning....and the bikes look like they need a rest too. πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡¦πŸ‘

This is what we’re trying to decide - full power electric but heavier bikes vs half power but lighter.
Maybe I should start a new thread but really interested in your views.
