We must stick together and show this draconian company that there are consequences to them replacing U.K. workers with cheaper overseas staff. Do not use them.

Have you any idea how many trucks use P&O to transport food alone to the U.K. ? We couldn’t really manage without the service.

Already got a booking with them in June, it’s been kicked down the line for two years , so hell yes I will use it, it’s ok for the people down south that can use the alternatives, Chunnel, BF and DFDS, but there no one else for us up north that sail from Hull.

Realism👍

Appalling treatment - bizarrely, I spent two hours on the phone this morning with a very helpful lady rearranging bookings and not a word was mentioned

Actually I don't think we bring that much food in with P&o. Brittany yes, a lot of fruit and veg but P&o ??

This has been happening since 1970 when the 'Flags of Convenience' took all the British Shipping Companies, the B.O.T. sailors were binned and we had foreign crews...... not long after, but, after I left the M.N. ( 1977) the officers were treated the same..... this is not new.

Genuine question as I have NO knowledge of BF but have they got as many FREIGHT only ferries as P&O? Mrs Westy works for a food importer and the majority of their stuff comes through Hull or sometimes Dover BUT it is on P&O freight, as she does the invoicing.👍

Cheaper Crews were already waiting in the Car Park, waiting for the Brit Crew to vacate the ships.

This was no chance decision, look at the time scale, hiring foreign crews transporting them to the UK, work Visa's. P&O,. has in the past done this before.

Unfortunately they are/were not alone Blue Flu, B P Tankers, Vestys Blue Star line, just a couple worth mentioning.
British Flag Merchant ships, with British crews are now as scarce as Rocking Horse whoopsee.

Sadly avoiding using p&o isn't going to help people get from cairnryan to Larne and back ☹️
I feel for the workers and hope they get what their due but it's one of life's realities life goes on

You haven't been told yet!!!!!
The P&O Hull/Zeebrugge route was discontinued a couple of years ago.

What comes in? We produce a massive amount here apart from fruit and veg.

Doesn't really matter what comes in...the ships have loads of cargo on them from somewhere that's gonna be affected.
Bad news all round really but the ££ always rules in business

Oh they do all that pickled crap that you wouldn’t look twice at!! Also Italian stuff and Belgian chips (mydibel I think)
Oh the amount of pickled sliced Gherkins and olives we’ve thrown away/turned down is unbelievable😱

Expected some of these replies but will ask people with a sense of what’s right and wrong not to use P&O. I for one won’t be using them.
The world takes all sorts..if everyone agreed with your way of thinking the whole world would grind to a halt due to lack of sense.
Seriously think what you are saying. Asking people to boycott a business and make things worse.
They go bust would you be happy ?

We have a booking from Hull to Rotterdam booked for June so will certainly be using it, we’ve rebooked it 4 times throughout the pandemic.
When in June are you sailing Gerry?

BOYCOTT THEM,,BUSBY.

It's a sign of the times........... I often hope for some competition against the high price / low service from B.F. but can't see it happening !!

EH?? HULL-ROTTERDAM still running dint ya know🤷‍♂️
Didn't realise.

I've only used the Hull/Zeebrugge route once.
Too expensive for my taste so after that we used Dover/ Dunkirk with DSDF.
The saving over Hull gave us £300 of diesel we would have had to budget for.
Took about 6 hours to get to Dover as opposed to 1hr to Hull but well worth the drive

You realise this has been going on all over the UK since 2004 when Poland joined the EU , if employers can find someone cheaper they will and it'll never end, less wages = more profits and happy shareholders.
