Many years
The little lcd display panel on our Dometic B1901 roof-mounted aircon unit has only partially worked ever since we bought the MH secondhand with it ready-installed about 6 years ago now.
Some of the bits of numbers/letters/symbols don't show up properly.
We've lived with it, as you can mostly decipher what it's saying, and anyway we only every use it on aircon, full-bore fan setting, so basically we ignore the info panel and just use it's main switch to turn it on/off.
But someone the other day mentioned that you can get a replacement panel, and they are dead easy to fit, so I contacted several Dealers/Distributors to ask for a price.
Bear in mid that this is just a tiny little triangle shaped lcd screen, with a couple of terminal wires attached.

Two quotes received back so far (including postage and VAT):

Ashridge Domestic Appliance Ltd: £244.77

Leisure Spares Ltd: £363.73

Utter lunacy.

I can source a COMPLETE, BRAND NEW, fully guaranteed aircon unit from a competitor manufacturer for about £1200.

We will NOT be buying a replacement little lcd screen from Dometic.

I have been quoted similar crazy priced items by Dometic as well. Their dealer in France told me the gas malfunction was a PCB and was going to cost 400€. I didnt believe him and fitted a thermocouple myself for a tenner when we got home.
I guess some people just pay up and dont question these thieves.

And what a shame they took over Fantastic Vent, makers of Endless Breeze, of which no more will be made at present...

Could you get that unit fixed by someone that repairs electronic devices?

I think they are approaching having a monopoly on the supply of original equipment in caravans and motorhomes and then the customer has no choice when it comes to having them repaired.
