Dometic hob P1/P18430. Smelt gas check pipes etc first. Found coming from kitchen area. Used gas sniffer found this. Bearing in mind only three years old. All connections were tight so used leak spray discovered this really bad leak. Nothing loose nothing hit ??

This pipe should have three small pipe inserts to centralise the pipe seals where it goes to the control valves. No kidding if this had failed overnight I hate to think. Turn the gas off at the bottle less than 3 seconds pipe was empty.

Tried several Dometic agents obviously the pipe cannot be bought on its own or the assembly £266.49 not available. The complete three burner hob is £669 but no longer produced.

any suggestions Please ??

Doesn’t your van have an LPG detector fitted? Ours is just above floor level to one side of the cooker so I hope it would pick up any leaks.

Yes it has a detector but the concern was the sheer volume of gas escaping.

Close call - glad no damage/injuries.

We have just had pressure test done on our near 20 year old gas system and it passed excellently. A 3 year-old system definitely should not have problems.

Thanks for that. I didn't even think about getting a detector for leaking gas. Have got carbon monoxide and smoke detector but have now ordered battery operated gas detector to site below the cooker. Been ok for the last 7 years but you never know. I really appreciate that you mentioned this.

Just heard back from Dometic as expected don't want to know. Where do you go to take this further and have it inspected by the gas safety councils as I feel that how this leak has occurred is not a safe design or product. Is it different for LPG systems as opposed to a household gas appliance?
