My fridge door fell off a couple of days ago and I discovered that the hole on the top of the door that the hinge pin goes in has cracked and has previously been repaired, unsuccesfully it turns out. It is a model RMS 8551 - any suggestions about sourcing a spare part or doing a better fix?

I would make a plate to fit over the top of the damage . Clean off all the old glue clean up the cracked surfaces with a fine scraper and buy a 2 pack epoxy resin glue. Press it into the cracks and clamp it up until set. Clean any surplus off and then fix and glue on a new top plate. Aluminium would be better.

I was going to suggest caravan breakers

Or there are a few on here that have replaced fridges

I bet they are in sheds all around the country, not working but with perfectly good doors

Remove the top plate, including the hinge housing and get the whole part 3D scanned and printed in carbon (for strength). There are several 3D print shops on the internet.

Thanks for all the suggestions....In the end I repaired it using glass fibre/expoy resin paste, to rebuild the pin connector hole. This needed to be built around a drill piece covered in shrink wrap to help in place while the expoy set, then removed to leave a hole for the retaining pin.

That's probably the easiest fridge fix you will ever have with a dometic fridge (y)
