We have had a Dometic DA20DC 12v awning Model 201 on our motorhome for three years, from new. As we usually travel in spring/autumn, stopping mostly for a single night, we had never used the awning. We have had a series of rear end cap problems and we recently decided to find out how the awning worked, since it had become unsecured and we needed to close it.
That was fine and we learned a few things - until last night, when we had force 8 winds and the awning opened by about 4”. We have not yet tried to close it manually as the winds are still quite strong. When we came to use the remote control, nothing worked and we noticed that our leisure battery charge had dropped to almost zero. We are staying in a nearby apartment, so we plugged in and left the van on charge all day. The battery now seems to be fine, but the awning does not work. We have tried resetting the remote control, and we have followed Dometic’s instructions using the power button to attempt a reset.
We had run out of light for the day, but we need to sort the problem out before heading back to the UK in a couple of weeks. Any suggestions?

It should have a manual override/way of winding it in manually?

Since 2008 & many years tugging
Can you not wind it back in manually it should have been supplied with a winding handle. If not you should be able to borrow an Ominstor one it should fit.
