The latch on my fridge door has stopped working. It happened a few years ago too, and was repaired/replaced during a hab service.

Does anybody know how to repair/replace it, as I'd like to do it myself if possible?

Have you seen this?

Prise the cover off over the catch. Undo the screw underneath it then reset the catch 👍

Mine broke and Paul made me a replacement as above. Much more robust. I did try repairing with araldite initial but it broke again.

On ours, a pair of pliers can be used to reseat the locking mechanism.
The part that locks onto the fridge needs pushing back while the lock/open sliding part is held still.
But it goes wrong again too quickly.

We use a cup hook screwed into a wine bottle cork on the door lock on the edge of the door.

Maybe replacing the travel latch with new 3d printed parts is a better idea

I've been looking at the catch, but can't see how to prise it off. Can you advise how I should attack it? :giggle:

These catches are rubbish anyway, ours was constantly 'undoing' by itself, we now secure it using a pin in the optional left hand hinge fixing.

The sliding plastic bit just pops off (upwards).

I've been using a pin since the catch broke. I'm hoping to replace it with a 3D-printed one from PaulandChrissy.

I will try and get the sliding plastic bit off.
Thanks.

Use a thin wide screwdriver under the top sliding part and prise it up and off. The rest is easy.

When you've removed the plastic bit, the metal 'hook' pivots and latches onto a metal pin. You can move the hook with your finger, so that it catches or releases. No actual need for the plastic bit.

I replaced two broken plastic sliders (fridge and freezer) when we first got the MH some years ago. They broke again within a few weeks. I removed the plastic bits and haven't replaced them.

Forget trying to fix it. We use a golf tee in the unused hinge fixing. Works a treat.

Yes, once it’s gone wrong once it’ll soon fail again.
Just find something with a spike to use in the optional left hand hinge fixing.
We have a cup hook screwed into a cleaned wine cork 🤪
