Hi everyone.
The above unit has just been prounced as “dead” in my 2003 Autotrail Chieftain. Has anyone any ideas on where to get a good deal on a replacement? I might even consider a second hand one, perhaps from a write off.
Best wishes, Peter

This chart might help if you can't get a direct replacement.
Also interesting to see how long before your van was made production stopped on certain models. 5 years in our case!

I was in Magnum’s in Grimsby a month or so back...

Noticed they had lots of heavily discounted fridges and fridge freezers..

Might be worth a call..

An opportunity to ditch gas and go for a compressor instead?

Fridge/freezer was inspected by a certified engineer. Not working on any of the three choices of power supply. Cooling unit shot and no spares now available.
Compressor not really an option as I will not always have electric hook-up! The

Don’t necessarily need hookup if battery/solar/alternator etc. sufficient,
Amazing how efficient these things are worth a serious look into

check the width of your existing fridge, I nearly made an expensive mistake changing ours thought I had found a bargain, turns out one MH manufacturer fits slightly narrower fridges

cant remember the details now, but do recall thinking the price was too good to be true o_O

unless very cheap I don't think I would consider a used fridge, it will have been removed for a reason

good luck with finding one, I presume you had already got a rough idea of just how expensive they were going to be :(

Reading the Globecar thread I got the feeling that compressor fridges are very power hungry. You need some serious batteries to keep these fridges running.
