Owing to loads of medical appointments we have been unable to get away to foreign parts in the motorhome. Finding ourselves with a week and a bit without any such appointments we are going to try the UK for a change.
We are trying Norfolk, having never been there staying mainly on sites with a couple of pubs. Not more than two nights anywhere. Booking was a pain as each booking was a separate exercise, and each required a deposit, which had to be individually approved in the banking app. It took all evening but done eventually. I'm not used to booking anything.
Pub stays kept to a minimum, as for us they are an expensive option. Sites were all under £20 a night, though I expect the pub stops will cost us several times that even though they are free.

If we booked sites on our time in the UK, we used https://www.pitchup.com/ found it very easy, not being members of any clubs we would phone the CS/ CL 5 van sites, but yes agree it can be a pain, we are on a Aire this is night 3 plan on moving tomorrow, nothing planned general direction 😉 Spain. 😎 Bob.

Ps 😜 Grenville I forgot to mention free Aires and night 6 in France and just invested €2 in 100 litres of water. 😎

Would you believe it. The day after booking all this uk stuff and a text inviting us for our covid booster. The only week they are doing it at our local centre is the week we are away. Hopefully some nearby centres will have appointments available when we get back.

Stopped at the white horse upton. Just a car park with breathtaking views of the bins. Excellent food and the pub which is a community business complete with community shop is obviously ghe centre of village life. We got the last table
Fish and chips I had was probably the best I've ever had with batter that stayed crunchy in spite of copious vinegar.
Peas were normally supplied, but I dislike peas with fish and chips so didn't have any.

Also note removed lemon wedge, another of my dislikes.

Where are these enormous fish coming from? I had the same last time I went to the pub for a meal the fish was so big I couldn't finish my chips.

Cottage pie for dinner. Homemade but brought frozen from home. Took an hour or more to heat up in the rather feeble smev oven. Cheaper than going to a pub can't afford that too often

Take your letter with you and get it done in Norfolk.
Worth a try 😊

Another vote for the White Horse, always use it when up that way, very often they have live music as well, and the cakes in the shop are out of this world !!

Perhaps try pub stopovers on Facebook, many reviews, suggestions and photos from people who have been there, stopovers from all over the country lots of places now offering facilities, just search pub stopovers.

I am sure there will be plenty of opportunities once home. I don’t think that there will be the mad scramble that we have seen before.
I wouldn’t have it done while away as you can sometimes get a couple of “off” days after it.

Two lunches two drinks at the Lion at Thurne Norfolk. £36.00.
As I see it food is not obligatory. Two rounds of drinks would suffice or even cheaper lite bites.

I use Britstops and then have a coffee/ drink but do eat if I fancy it last free stop a cidery cost losts but the cider is lovey and is in the van for sharing. So happy to pay for that kind of stop if you work it out £20.00 for a night or the lunch only cost Martin2603 £16.00 and did you have to have 2 drinks each :drinks:
Stayed at a pub in the Cotswolds before heading to Quackers and had pint of cider and lasagne for £12

Now on Sandringham c&cc site. A lovely spot and the grass is green. Only 40 miles from Norwich which was a desert. Perhaps her maj has a special arrangement.
Great welcome from the multiple wardens, it is a pretty big site. Swmbo checked out the showers and pronounced them satisfactory though we are unlikely to use them. Fish and chip van calls tonight hurrah.

We did a FREE pub night stop in Ireland recently, cost us €108. We loved every minute:giggle:

Sandringham is lovely but has a few drawbacks.
Phone signal very poor. We have 3, O2, and Vodaphone, all pretty unusable.
Related to this site wifi very slow
Noisy jets during the day.
Nasty mosquitoes.
Now at St Neots.
