A Class
All the best with the pup, Lyndon. Ridgebacks belong to the hound family and are not that easy to train, being somewhat single-minded, but they are great guard dogs and good with children. Very brave and will protect their family with their life.

They get their name from the ridge which develops down the midline of the back, where the hair runs in opposing directions as they mature. Popular on the (ex) farms of that (ex) great colonial outpost , now Zimbabwe, that is where the breed was developed. They were also popular in South Africa, where we lived many moons ago.

Hope you have many years of happiness with him - usually very good natured and loving family dogs.
