If you love your " old folk " and if they "took care" of you you take care of them . That's how I see it.
It's funny
I have a dog at home
I also have chickens
I eat my chickens
But I don't eat my dog (yet)
Both are cared for with compassion
One is a pet, the other is a food source
Can't see the difference if they are cared for and have a good life.
Both are respected

What's the difference between a respected farm (food) animal and a loved pet

Personally, I don't see a difference. If you rear something as a food source, and then eat it, it really shouldn't matter what it is. Although there is a good ecological argument for not eating from the top of the food chain!

Not funny

you say not funny, I am not saying it is, but you can be sure it fresh, just like me boiling Crabs and Lobster live, I don't eat frozen shellfish, I even eat Queens, and King Escallops live same as oysters, best grub going, I do wonder if I could eat human though like those people did in that plane crash in the Andes, I think I would have to draw the line at that, but you never know what people will do if hunger is really bad. fancy having to do that to survive, so dog or cat over that any day, as I said in the OP the Dog was ok in Korea had a nice bite to it,

At it's most fundamental - meat is meat.
All that differs is cultural acceptability.

Why is cow OK but horse not?
Did anyone actually notice during the horsemeat scandal?
