Hi, We’re about to embark on our next motorhome trip with our new medium sized 13kg pooch. We see our four legged friends jumping out of motorhomes everywhere we go so it would be really helpful for your advice, how you travel with your best friend/s, where do they travel, on beds or seats ? He’s a calm dog who’s good in the car but we want to keep him ( and us ) safe. All your stories would be much appreciated. 🐶😊

Mine travels in a crate that I secure to the settee behind the drivers seat.

we use a body harness clipped into the spare seat belt for a labrador. She lies on her bed under the dinette table just behind the drivers seat.

Ours just sleeps in his bed between the two front seats (he is a small 10kg dog).
Strictly speaking he should be restrained but we don't bother because he is well behaved and doesn't move around when the motorhome is in motion.
He also gets a nice blast there from the air con when the weather is hot.

Several recent threads on the same subject. Have a look at this one for ideas.......

I would suggest you do what you and the dog are comfortable and feel safe with.

Ps: the above is not intended to be unhelpful 👍

Lots of different answers, that’s exactly what I’m after ! 😜

We have two small dogs one 15kg and one10kg. We have dog travel leads that clip into the seat belt but as we only have two seats we each pass them through our seatbelts before we clip in so they are secure. I also have a large soft dog bed between our seats and up against the dash so they are comfy. Ours are brilliant at travelling and just sleep until we get there.

Reggie sleeps most of the time in his bed, especially bought to for use in the 115 and now the 175 between the rear benches. He is secured by a headrest style lead attached to the pull out bed frame attached to his harness. He can't get between the front seats. In the event of a prang he can't bang into anything heavy or us.

Yes it’s very similar to this, Toby just gets in and sleeps until we get off our seats then he knows it’s time to walk 😂
Same as my 2, don’t hear a peep out of them , we normally stop every few hours for a drink and then give them a quick walk around.

Pets are required by law to be restrained while in moving vehicles in the UK. Mine weighs just over 3 kilos, to have that flying at 50 MPH in the event of a collision, well get it retrained no matter how well behaved they are. Not to is illegal and just plain stupid. Fanny sleeps in her bed most of the time so no bother to her.
