Does anyone have a CD of Quicken 98 for Windows ?

I can most probs find a copy, I’ll see what I have in my junk cd draw.
I use the original Quicken Deluxe that runs on Win '95! (ran my self-employed business accounts on that version although my Accountant tried to get me to switch to Sage). It is compatible with Windoze XP so I still use it.

Does Quicken 98 run on Windoze 10? If so I would love to get my hands on a CD copy. Please?

I guess it's down to personal choice  but I always use MS Money.
While it was fully supported I owned MS Money 98 & later Money 2004

When I adopted Windows 10 several years ago I "updated" to MS Money 2005 and with a registy fix to allow current browser support it works great (y)

I assume :wink:you've all got a previous copy of MS Money like me and can use this MS Help page: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...oad-link/8b12d9a9-31b4-48d2-ada2-2f0e7d709d3d

edit: oh!! THAT link is dead now but the internet can assist. an example

OK, so I will have to keep mending the old laptop running XP, the Trigger's Broom of my IT setup. Cannibalised from 2 nearly identical Toshy laptops.

Failing that, I still have an older one with a whizzy Pentium that runs Win 95. And an even older one with a 486 processor whose OS is lost in the mists of time. I hate chucking stuff away if it still works. One day, take it to the Antiques Roadshow to be appraised ...

Can't help on Quicken but I too still use MS Money 2004. I don't use it for any online services, merely to keep personal accounts since we retired and it's never failed to install and run through all the OS advances.

I have a ‘Year 2000 Solution based on Quicken 98 Deluxe‘ for windows 3.1/95/98. I don’t use it anymore as it wouldn’t work with my new windows 10 laptop. Will this do what you want Trevor EuroTrotters

A blast from the past. I used Quicken in the late 90s until converting the files into MS Money format. My Quicken CD unfortunately will have been binned years ago.

Still using MS Money 2000. Works faultlessly on a Win10 PC. My NatWest accounts also export transactions into it seamlessly. (Not so for Starling Bank unfortunately whereby transactions have to be entered into MS Money manually).

If you cannot get hold of an old version of Quicken, it may be worth getting a copy of MS Money and trying to convert your Quicken file format into the MS Money format. (There used to be a free downloadable "Sunset edition" of Money that may still be obtainable).

Sunset is US only.
Look for MS Money 2005 (y)

Edit: Money 2005 is the last native UK release and ez to locate.
Sunset is for the US user but there’s a currency fudge. Like set £1 = $1
But I’ve used 2005 for years with pensions, investments, ISA’s etc. without needing whatever Sunset has 🤷‍♂️👀🤣

That May Do the Trick if it uses Qdf files. thanks
I have a newer version Quicken 2004 which can be downloaded from the web if you search for it.
I have quicken 2004 on a CD, bit that uses QIF files not the old QDF

EuroTrotters Trevor ill have a dig around my old quicken files, that I’m sure I kept a copy of somewhere, to make sure they have the correct extension. I think they did, and if so I can post it to you, it will be good to give a favour back 😊 I’ll pm you when I get it done, likely tomorrow. Roy

For Quicken users, if the MS Money 2005/Sunset is something of interest, here's the Quicken import part of the Money UI:

Not something I've tried tho 🤷‍♂️

mrskevenh recently did an MS Money 98 to Money 2005 update and retained all her account info.
Some customised charts needed text fields redone ;)

If so, please contact me please?
I've got a CD of QB 2008 you can have. The licence number is written on the sleeve but whether it is transferrable I don't know.

I would guess it is backward compatible and can read QB98 files but again I don't know.

Might be worth a try if you can't what you need from say eBay.

I have a Quicken 2002 deluxe CD, but no unlock code for it.

I had been using Quicken since before 2000, but had to get rid of it in 2012 because the laptop I bought was on Windows 7, which that Quicken version was not compatible with. By then Quicken was getting expensive so I got a free version of MS My Money Plus Home & Business Sunset Edition, which I am still using on Windows 11. Turned out to be better than Quicken for me

Quicken XG 2004 is the last version (I believe) that was 'buy the software' rather than 'buy a subscription'. I still use it and it works on Windows 10 (although I seem to recall that after installing you need to copy an extra file into the Windows directory to make it work). You can buy a (downloadable) copy on ebay for £4.99.

Quicken 2002 can also be made to work on Win7/8/10 (I had it on Win10 for some time before I managed to buy a copy of XG 2004). 2002 can become very slow on large data files (my data goes back to 1997!)

cheers,

Robin

EuroTrotters - have you managed to get this installed and working ok?

I',m probably too late but Ive found my Quicken 2004 disk today and also have seen info on the Quicken community which might help?
