There is no incentive for Ebay to clamp down on these scams until the law gets changed so that they are responsible for the accuracy and truthfulness of the listings. It needs everyone to write to their MPs asking for action to be taken.

As long as it isn't a ringer.

Its a PayPal scam I can't remember how it works but basically the can turns up you pay the money they then claim the money hasn't arrived and you end up with no van and no money I will email.him tomorrow and ask him exactly how the scam works but I don't think he will reply

I'd like to know how it works because eBay/PayPal protection doesn't cover motor vehicles.

I think we should run him around for a while first.

I've told him it sounds like a good way to proceed but asked what happens if I don't like the van when it arrivrs

They use PayPal pay after delivery service which seems to cover everything. There was a thread on here a few weeks ago about how it works

There is no protection from PayPal or eBay, if you pay for it but don't get it so you Will lose your money.

It’s gone now, one way or another, anyway!

Ok here is how it work
I dend him all my details he sends me an invoice along with a tracking number from the transport company so I know its on its way, then I send the full amount (and as he is such a nice bloke he has reduced the price to 24k) to the transport co and if I don't like the van when it arrives they will give me a full refund and take the van away, I really can't see what could possibly go wrong

I emailed hm and asked again to view the van.

I did not have enough time to sell the motorhome before my departure from England and since I am in Scotland now there are only 2 ways to do this sale:

* The first option is to use a transport company that deals with the transaction, motorhome and money as escrow. I travel for my work and I do not have time to bring the motorhome and I think your free time is limited too, so this is the perfect way to make things easier, fast and safe for both of us. I will pay the company, so you will not pay extra money then the motorhome price. You will get the motorhome to your home address, and you can check the motorhome before making the final decision. I think this is the perfect way for us.

* The second option is by using PayPal pay after delivery service: https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/pay-after-delivery-terms

Please let me know how you want to continue with this transaction and I will provide more details.
Regards,

If I was clever enough I would have posted the email reply I had which was exactly the same as yours Boris but I have since gone back and asked for his address so I can view it in person and he has given me an address in Inverness I said that's lucky I have friends in Perth I will stay with them tomorrow night and view the van on Thursday but he doesn't seem to keen on that idea so I told him can deliver the van to me and I will do a bank transfer once I've seen the van but he hasn't replied to that 1

 There's a surprise!
It makes a change from "I'm working away on an oil rig" or "I've had to go to Orkney to look after my elderly mother" or "I'm in hospital at the moment with a broken leg".......
