We live full time in our motorhome and have been stopping at Aires in France since 2002. Unfortunately we experienced a failed attempt to steal our bikes off the back of the van at the beginning of March 2011. The motorhome was stoned and suffered damage to the bodywork and window frame.
This is extremely unusual but do think twice about stopping at the aire in the centre of St Flour just south of Clermont Ferand.
There were two other motorhomes parked alongside but they did not have bikes on the back.

We stopped at the one beside some flats

Last April, we stopped at the one beside some flats and what looked like a small river/culvert open on the otherwise with commercial buildings, in the lea of the big hill.... Did not feel very happy with it and as we were the only motorhome (RV) we pulled out and headed up the road to an ACIS site at Nonnette ...towards Clermont Ferrand...bad access as you ave to do a 180 after crossing the river bridge down a steep slope back towards river and then along to the camp site.

We found the Aires in Flour, scruffy and uncared for.. We did not feel safe.. So I am not surprise at this post.

We stopped at this aires two years ago ,the top town is very nice but although the aire was full I never felt very safe there, and after reading this thread we will never stop there again.
