So, if safety is paramount, then surely we should have annual driving tests for the Over-65s? Just to make sure of course...
You would improve road saftey more if you did that with under 30 year olds.
I do agree with Tam, these rules are only being proposed to slow/stop the second hand car market, as new electric car sales are poor & the government needs everyone out of their older cars asap
I don't see that, the amount of vehicles over 40 years old is minimal compared to the total amount of cars on the road.
And if it does get rid of unsafe old bangers it must be a good thing.

Try to get somewhere with free Internet if there's such a thing out there, just to save your data.
As if I needed more Fiddlesticksin problems I've broke my bleeding phone . I have a spare but it isn't set up with all my apps , park4night etc . And I'm a technophobe so I gotta figure out how to do it

you get two 90 days a year so all in all you actually get 6 months away, how much more do you need for god's sake.
But most want the period from october to end of march in one hit for the out of uk decent weather

Apart from the fact that you only can stay 90 days
What's the minimum investment for Spanish residency?

€500,000.00 ?!?!?
as Minxy said it is being removed
I’d be interested to know the actual amount.
don't worry ,as above they have done away with it as being abused mainly by russians
That's why the consultation involved only 1083 people and not the several hundred thousand classic car owners in the UK.
& it is what the sad one does in London. He introduced a ULEZ on the back of a vote of TFL members, including me, that are mainly cyclists & pedestrians ,then on that basis took it upon himself to extend the LEZ using the Ulez emission standards. Should never be allowed.

Fortunately I had the sense to put a second sim in my other phone a few weeks ago so I have data I just need to swap everything over to the other phone. Only issue being I can only see the top half of my phone screen as I've broke the screen . Might be a nightmare.

Is it an android phone Tam? If so on your new phone you can sign into your play store account, tap on the account icon in the top right then manage apps and devices, then manage, then device and choose your old phone and it will come up with all the apps from your old phone, from there you can make a list of what you need on your new phone, their should also be an option to sync apps to devices but I haven't used that one before, it might be worth checking that out on YouTube?

It is an android so I will give that a go .. the nightmare is all my bloody passwords as I'm terrible at remembering them so it might take me a good while to sort everything out .

Just got parked up now where I'm hoping to stay tonight so that's my job for the afternoon

Surely there's a helpful skilled Maroc phone technician within touching distance who can replace your screen?
The phone is now junk .. I just need to get all my stuff off it.

All thanks to a guy pushing his way past when I was buying my gas bottle ...knocked me off balance ,phone was in my back pocket and I backed in to a small wall ...put a big crack in the centre of the screen .

It's Fiddlesticksed

Not so bothered about the phone it's quite old and had other issues .. its all my personal stuff I have on it that I might not get off as I can't work it properly now .. bottom half of screen is just blank

Log into Google and it should all work but as you say you need a password.

Bet all that is required is a new screen...
Are you anywhere near civilisation ?

I can't do anything at the minute as I said every app I have is on my other phone I can't even access email , WhatsApp anything at minute . I have Google for Internet that's it .

I'm not bothered about the phone itself at present just getting all my apps on to this one as I'm a bit isolated without it.

You may already have Google password manager running in the background without you knowing, if so it will have remembered your passwords, but you have to know your Google password to get into it.
Try going into a Google search and put in password manager.

This shit is a nightmare when you're not technically minded .. so I downloaded WhatsApp on this phone but it needs WiFi to restore all contacts and messages etc ... the other phone now won't let me access WhatsApp as its moved it to this one and I can't see or hit the Restore button on the old phone as its on the bottom of the screen that's broken aaarrrrrrggggghhhhhhh

Fiddlesticks sake .

Can you turn it upside down so it's visible if you turn off screen rotation?

What happens when you turn your phone upside down? Do you get any of the data showing then?
See MichaelT beat me too it, but thought I had posted this ages ago

Is your new phone a Samsung? You could try Samsung Switch.

I did it with Alan's phone when one of his work colleagues drove over it and bent it like a banana and smashed the screen ::bigsmile:
Worth an attempt Tam
Yes I'm trying that at present I think it's transferring

Arrrrggghhjj security stuff is a bloody nightmare at times.

Everything wants to send a code to my UK phone number which of course that sim isn't in the phone .

If I put that sim in the phone I'm gonna rack up a shit load of charges for every text and emails ...

Fiddlesticks sake

Absolutely agree with you on this one, if one phone dies and you want to use your other , they insist on sending a code to the dead phone, lots of things do this, I'm afraid usually it means having to phone them.
I had this problem in France when we broke down and then my phone died, crazy and most of the time it's only something that wouldn't worry you if someone else got in anyway.

Yep I'm completely stuck.. my emails , banking etc all need to text or phone my UK sim and if I install that I'll lose connection and be charged a small fortune .. absolute headache.

Can't even have WhatsApp on 2 phones at once .

Alan's just reminded me that he was more upset that his lunch got crushed at the same time ::bigsmile:

I'm giving up with this nonsense, will have to wait till I'm back in Spain to sort all my emails and banking etc out , i just hope I don't have any issues with cards etc till I get back or I'll really be up shit creek .

I'll have to go top up some credit on this other phone tomorrow just to make sure it lasts . I don't want to switch sims over incase they don't work on the other phone as I had the guy in the shop set them up for me as all info is in Arabic and French.

Bleedin annoying and a stark reminder to anyone to carry a spare phone but slso have it set up as a clone to your main one ... I had started to clone mine but obviously hadn't completed it. It was my mums old phone and I didn't want to delete or wipe stuff off of it.. I've lost it all now unfortunately but I had to register it on my Google account etc to make it work .

I've got WhatsApp, park4night and a few other essential apps for now at least .

But if I get any response to job applications i won't see them till back in Spain now unfortunately.

All 3 of my email accounts need to send a code to my UK sim in order to verify its me 😭 I know its necessary fir security but its a pain when out the country for a while.

I did meet Barchetta47 in sidi Kaouki and collected my master cylinder.

That thing has just caused a whole load of grief and I truly believe I don't need the bleeding thing .

I also think I passed jongood on the drive up ... I spotted a nice clouliner then a UK plate and it was towing a trailer

Exchanged a wave as we passed ...I'm sure it was him but I'm sure he'll confirm either way.

I also saw that big euramobil with the steampunk type paint or wrap on it parked at sidi Kaouki... didn't get a photo though .

I left Mike n brenna at tamri this morning as they're here a bit longer than I'm staying in Morocco so they're now in tafedna where the donkeys were and I'm parked up at the windmill spot again between sidi kaouki and Essaouira, might have a look around there tomorrow and stock up in Carrefour before I continue north ...I'm planning to return to the beach parkup I had at oualidia for a few days ... might have to stop one night on route though .

Reminds me...
In New Zealand, the bus driver reversed his coach over the tour leader's phone.
Totally flattened.
She went to a phone shop, bought a new phone and they transferred everything across.
So it can be done
Most can buy nothing sensitive like banking or emails it seems without a second form of verification...either text to registered phone number ... or by mail which is nae good either.

Tam, I also have a Samsung tablet & a laptop with emails on, I carry the tablet whenever we're out in the MH and take it to the hospital with me, as I can also watch catch-up TV on it if I want. It might be worth buying a pre-loved tablet as an extra back-up.
I have a tablet ...I've the same issues with that unfortunately.

As I said lesson learned I'll have it synced when I'm back in Spain. I'll need to pick up another phone for a back up too .
