We have just been away for a few days. One day the radio was fine, the next for some unknown reason it asked for the access code which I didn't have with me! Had we been on an extended trip it would certainly have been annoying (fortunately not too much of a problem for a couple of days)
A good idea to have a note of yours somewhere you can find it.

write it on some masking tape and stick it to the top or bottom of radio,
as nearly all the fitted radios are bespoke designs they are pretty much useless to anybody unless they have the same chassis,
you can have most radios recoded anyway so if a toewrag stole it they could still sell it on,
save all the hassle and use a bit of tape,

It's usually in your handbook but some have it written on the radio if you get it out(n)

@Jasz I don't know if it's the same issue that you experienced, but my radio has the 20 minute cut off when the engine isn't running and I have to keep switching the radio back on.
Usually after three or four switch ons, the radio displays an error and asks for a code.

Switching on the ignition with or without starting the engine, or pressing the hazard warning light switch resets the error without having to enter a code.

Thought the latest trend wes to do away with the requirement for codes..
Im fairly sure new fords dont require a radio code any longer.

Had one for 5 years many moons ago. Now starting again.
Have always put mine in the phone but latest car doesn't require one. You do however need a degree in electronics to work and understand the dashboard.

The radio was working driving to the site, but came up with the error without the ignition switched on. We have never had a problem with the 20 minute issue in the past and this was a first try. It did cross my mind to try switching the ignition on but for some reason I never got round to it.
I know the code now but the van is back in storage. It will be about 10 days before I next use it, so it will be interesting to see what happens then.

"Do you know your radio security code?"
Yes, bizarrely, I can remember being told it when the car was handed over at the dealers.
No idea what a lot of the buttons, switches and lights are though.......

My Chrysler Radio is coded to the ECU so is useless to anyone else.
It does have an activation code though.

I did find that it worked fine next time that I was driving without having to set the code. I will have it now though just in case. (y)

If you have a Ford theres a guy on the Ford forum will get you the code for free, after you have made 10 posts.
