I have just bought a luxurious cover for my motorhome, we fitted it last night and my wife was moaning about the ice on the roof as she was slipping around, we don’t have a roof rack so she could easily have slipped over edge but it was dark and I don’t think she realised how high she was ?

Anyway cover is now on just side straps to put on, the only pain in the @rse is that there is no zip door, there are zips at all corners so it’s a matter of releasing one and slipping in. I never had a cover on my last one as we had an antiquated satellite dish on it, top box and roof rack, this would have just allowed water to build up in pockets. So looking forward to how this works out, I would be interested to know who else uses one, one of the main reasons we bought one is we saw them at the NEC, we are surrounded by trees, a neighbour has a caravan and in little over 6mths is going green on areas of the roof ?

I would not have put it on over ice on the roof as you have trapped in moisture.

I think you should take it off, let it dry and start again - give the wife more practice standing on the roof.

We do not have a cover but the MH is under the roof of the high 'car port' we had built, so no leaves and the air gets round it.

Geoff

Never used a cover, would be concerned about the potential for trapping moisture in, but hopefully it’s breathable?

This one is breathable, we live in Kent, everything was nice and dry but it was a clear starry sky, ice was starting to form, it was 11.30pm, the cover is slightly loose so room for air, I wanted it on before the heavy rains come I don’t want the motorhome getting wet ?

Yes it’s breathable, will post a pic later, I have left the straps off at the moment to let more air circulate ?

No expert but somewhere in my mind covering a vehicle that cannot breath doesn't seem quite right.

Where has your fun side gone? Surely you want to find out if it’s water tight. ???

Beat me to it, was just going to say:

If you use a cover, you won't find out where the leaks are. ?

Breathable means it shouldn’t sweat but it could still be blocking the motorhome’s built in ventilation. I have also heard that when they fidget and flap in the wind they can chaff the paintwork. I don’t use one and have had no problems. If you want to protect the paintwork a ceramic finish with a 5 year guarantee is an option but getting it done properly is expensive, it is not a DIY job.

596 you do make me chuckle ? you must be either a Greek god with the body to match or have wealth in great measures! I’m sure my wife loves me dearly but asking her to get on the roof of our Motorhome at 11:30pm to pop a cover on would no doubt end badly.

Here it is, looks like a trussed up chicken ?. I will still be going in and out so just wanted to try it over to see if it fitted, it’s a universal type so there will be some areas that need tucked in, no wind will move this. I only bought it as I don’t trust Swift products left out in the rain if you know what I mean ?

This cover will be for the harshest couple of months, I can’t imagine taking it off every week, I’m lucky I still have a marriage after last night trying to get it on with my wife ?

£147 on Amazon ?

Never use one as want the van to "breath", also the solar panel needs some light to keep batteries topped up.

Used one once on a caravan..scratched it hell.Probably understand you covering a SWIFT up but most vans are waterproof and can be relied on to stay dry in all weather's.BUSBY??

We used to have a Conway folding camper. I bought a breathable green cover for it. Sunlight eventually rotted. it.

Well I don't want my new one in the rain, my wife spent 2 days polishing it, plus she was wriggling around on the roof like a seal when polishing it as she was scared of heights, she was flat on her belly it was so slippery, I told her she should have taken her socks off and to man up! , it was that Diamondbrite sealant stuff, last night she was like an ice skater on two layers of Diamonbrite, I really thought she could slip and die, again she had her socks on she never learns , I even thought of asking her the code for the safe where the life insurance documents are but thought that could annoy her  My wife at work today so I will have to see if I can get it off with my neighbours wife, she's at home(y) I don't think when my wife comes home and finds I've taken it off with the neighbours wife after all the effort she put in last night she will be best pleased. I may get some food and drink in there just in case ;)

Would not dream of using a cover , a well built polished motorhome should withstand all the natural elements thrown at it.
I’m sure our full timers on here manage without a cover

I'm plugged into shore power, have the unit like a caravan site at the side of the house, dehumidifier set, plus I can see the humidity and battery states from anywhere in the world with my sooper dooper wifi satellite linking Swift Command module ;)

Did you buy the luxurious version though?

would only ever use specialisedcovers.com or pro teccovers.co.uk these covers are made to measure with the doorway where it should be, tight fitting to prevent wind rub.

Well you know what, mine was £147, the price for a meal for 2, so I'm not going to get too excited about it, I will however update the forum on how it performs and I am sure you will be seeing how my motorhome looks over the years, that's the bets way, hard evidence, not waffle and rumour (y)

? My wife at work today so I will have to see if I can get it off with my neighbours wife,
your likely to find yourself in a spot of bother with that behaviour! I’m not sure your wife would approve? ?

Oh dear that doesn't look good does it, I meant get the cover off, think I clarified it a bit later on, does that mean I can't be an MP now

If that is your approach how on earth did you end up with a motorhome that you think will leak?
I like to live dangerously (y)

Always used a cover, breathable, on caravan and mohome and have noticed some marking / scuffing but not enough to deter me from using one. Not keen on cleaning through the cold months, should really go to warmer climates in winter, with mh of course.

No, the pigeons do it for me.
