Ok Folks this may be contentious but do you Celebrate Valentine’s Day.

No. I don’t need a “day” to remind me what a lovely wife I have. It’s just a lot of commercial nonsense as far as I’m concerned, but very happy to see others enjoying it if that’s what they want.

We most certainly do , champagne breakfast, exchange cards , spend the whole day together and then we are cooking a three course meal together , cheese soufflé starter , trout in Riesling for mains and then peach tart with cream , really enjoy Valentine’s Day .

We don't exactly "celebrate" a special day, but the hidden romantic in me (well that's what she says) feels guilty when she gets me a card and a big block of chocolate so it's a good opportunity to enrich the coffers of our local Tesco with the purchase of ridiculessly expensive flowers and a suitably sickly greetings card.

No, but I did manage to solve the "Google" puzzle, couldn't share to anyone as my wife was sat next to me ;-).
We have never celebrated it after we got married, 50 years this year and looking forward to the next fifty!

One of the few days we were actually going to stay in bed longer and i get a call from dad saying he had fallen and couldnt get up .
Out of bed , in the car , go get him on his feet , make cuppa, toast make sure hes ok , back home.
Wife on setee with dogs.
Well thats stuffed todays plans.

We're not today. Have done in the past but only with a card or home cooked meal.

In the first year with my partner as 14th Feb drew nearer, I asked her if she celebrated Valentine's day. She said it wasn't important. Great, same as me.

So, 14th Feb arrived and I went to play tennis that evening. That was a mistake!

It turns out that although it's not important, she wants to be more important than tennis. It's a close one I must admit, but I've not been to tennis on any valentine's since (y)

Grumpy Git alert .... the origins of the day are about anonymous declarations of love from would-be suitors. Like may traditions it has been hijacked and commercialised into being something else. Me and 'er go out for pleasant meals as often as we want, when we want. Never between 12th and 16th February when the restaurants are often full of tables of two who are out of their depth with a meal that doesn't come in a paper bag.

PS: That's a 'no'.

That would have been my exact post 👍

Quick lunch I rustled up, for my darling.

Nope dont send any cards to anybody. Waste of money for a piece of paper folded in half.
Donate to charity at Christmas.

I( was under the impression it was a declaration, as opposed to a celebration, however if I am ever at home on the day then I usually come up with something romantic to mark the day, but not anything so mundane and unimaginative as a card.
That said, I usually come up with something to mark every day with her.

The 29th Feb has more significance for us because that's when she proposed to me, after knocking me back a few years before.

Well, after messages from various childre; an grandchildren I bought flowers. She weren’t home when I dropped them off. When I got home she says “ There’s some flowers ere are they for next door cos they not in”. Mmmmm

Bet she didn’t have a flag on that day 😂

I voted NO... and I'm with the majority. 👍👍👍😁

Certainly not, 😁 we don't need flags of any type to demonstrate our allegiance to each other.
Its just there.
