Or do I have to solder it in place?

That is a crimp terminal, need a heavy duty crimping tool for it.

Why not crimp that one? Looks like a crimp one to me, make sure you have correct jaws in crimper, trial one first.

That is a crimp version. Battery specialists sometimes have a hydraulic crimpers for those depending on dia. Screw clamp types are available but they are much bigger. Best bet is to ask a battery shop to crimp them for you.

If you try to solder the solder would run out of it. It's a 35mm crimp lug.

To crimp it you need a self made tool--- cut the correct size nut in half while taking about 3 mm off and use it in vice to crimp it .to

What’s a crimper?

I thought that was a hairdressing thing.

Stealaways crimping tool example is not suitable for large crimps such as 35mm. You will need something larger. You could hire one but probably not cost effective. You need to find a friendly electrician.

To crimp it properly it should be hexagonal when finished.
Your tool may crimp it but it won't be anywhere near as secure.

I'm sure your more experienced than I am, I only had 50 years in the game. We first used crimp lugs in 1964.

My Method:

1, de-sheath cable for a snug fit into terminal
2, cut a further small ring off of around 5mm
3, place correctly sized heat shrink over cable, along away from terminal
4, place cable into terminal
5, heat terminal from ring end with a microflame or torch and feed in lots of solder from the cable end until the hole, ring end bleeds molten solder
6, if cable sleeving is scorched or burnt. Cut ring from "2" above and place over any burnt sleeving from heating
7, pull heat shrink over to end of cable towards terminal, heat with a gun, hairdryer or microflame.

Better conductivity and that cable is never going to leave that crimp unless heated again.

Photos available next time I do It on request.

I have these same ones as well , i'd describe them as the dogs bollocks , excellent and well worth the money if you are making even as little as half a dozen cables :)

Shouldn't be soldering them, if theirs a short they could heat up and the solder melt.
Silver solder is ok, much higher melting point.

Doesn't even need to be a short. Just a lose connection can easily create enough heat to melt the solder.
We only ever crimp (hydraulic up to 400mm) or electric (normally only up to 95mm). Soldering is too slow and too susceptible to long term issues.

Notice the crimp die's are HEXAGONAL.

And that crimper is CHEAP....might have to buy one.
They are pretty good for home use. Check the dies mate correctly though, sometimes they don't line up quite true which can leave burrs along the length of the crimp. Easy enough to trim down with a file though
