I am looking at buying a 2017 Sunlight T66 and trying to find out if it has composite/bonded walls. TIA.

Hello, we have the T66.Yes, twin skin with a polystyrene inner core. The internal skin is a composite fibre timber sheet about 4mm thick. 30mm of foam. Plus outer ally/ ABS skin.
I have carried out various upgrades to ours which may be of interest should you complete the purchase.
Regards. Mike.

Its not a simple question, there are quite a few variants in wall construction techniques, The best imv is a sandwich of PU Foam totally bonded with a decent layer of aluminium outside and in, or in some cases GRP, they are a lot stronger than traditional construction offer high levels of insulation and most importantly timber free.

Having a quick search brought up this previous thread;

The floor is definitely marine ply. They don't show the wall build up but if you look at about 7 minutes in you can see the unfinished edge which looks like timber framework to me, having Polystyrene insulation supports this conclusion.

tbf Sunlight is a budget brand so its unfair to expect some of the features of top end mh's but I'm sure they have plenty of happy owners.

Hi Mike, Thanks a lot, where did you find that info out of interest? I've been looking/asking all over.
We bought this very clean 2017 model yesterday, drove it 150 miles home, no problems but still getting used to the Comformatic.
Yes please, would very much like to hear/ see what you've done to yours; side chat or continue in this thread?

That's one way to find out😁. Were you installing a tumble dryer?🤔
No, a gas bbq point. Very happy with the build quality of my Sunlight. I've made lots of additions including additional solar, extra power points, fridge fans, and the latest one is adding central locking to the Hab door. Love tinkering.

Wow, well done. Do you have any posts or links to your projects? If not, I'm offering tea and biscuits whilst you demonstrate on mine😁

Good vans for a budget model, the timber frame and polystyrene insulation is not ideal but not a deal breaker.
They are built on the Fiat chassis cab rather than the Camping Car chassis, means they roll a bit move on corners but you get a lot more ground clearance.

Any info you find on the Corado is relevant as it's the same van just different branding.

Correct, Carado and Sunlight are both Budget brands owned by the Hymer/Dethleffs Group.

We rented a Sunlight T65 before buying our Benimar Mileo 243. Our recollection was that the build quality in the Sunlight was better (it just felt more solid, if you know what I mean) but the equipment spec on the Benimar was much better for a similar price.

Benimar also claim their bodywork construction to be ‘99% wood free’, which is reassuring.

That is the trade off with German vans better build quality but you have to spend on options

Hi Neil, my information came the same way as Sean's, who has also done many upgrades.I focused initially on weight plate upgrades. We're now 4090kg, which allows me take all the toys I need for a proper holiday .
I'm away at the moment had a big drive yesterday,450miles, so a bit knackered. I'll pick up this thread when I'm back. Our van is manual. Euro6 but no add blue.

Hi Neil, I'm home now. I presume from your Avatar you're in Norway. If I can advise on any specific task you may be thinking of undertaking give me a shout. My next task is a fixed solar panel on the roof, probably about 300w,I have already fitted an MPPT controller that feeds both batteries through the Schault Electroblok 119 unit, [ thanks Lenny HB and Autorouter] for advice. I also have fitted a B2B. Both units fitted side by side behind the Electroblok.20220404_103505.jpg Not quite finished in this photo, but you get the idea, fuses added for the final fitting.
Mike.
