Looking around on fleabay and other sites, for a decent PVC...

Decent as in tidy new`ish,,,,, Properly registered as a campervan,,, Tidy, NOT chopped about,,, with all the toy`s...

All I have seen is look OK on the photo`s..... but then look at the "Mileage"...

Quote = Low mileage,,,, 100 odd thousand miles on the clock... even one with 198k on the clock... :whatthe:

Surely engine wise they must be on their last legs..!!!!

Don`t mind paying a fair price for a tidy LOW mileage one if it suits us...

Looks like I will be looking for a trailer tent or frame tent and trailer... :Eeek::shake::shake::shake::smiley:

Modern engines are good for much more than 198,000 miles, many have only just warmed up. I would rather have a high mileage than one that has done 4k-5k per year and sat rotting

So ma my White Van men thrashing around the country in vehicles that have done 300/400k miles and still going strong, most longevity is down to servicing, done regularly they really do last so 100/200 could be considered lowish.
A pal has a VW LT with 700k on clock but it is just about to be scrapped, one owner.

If properly serviced and maintained, they should still have plenty of life left in them even after 200k miles.
But yes you're right, they could also be knocked about and a load of trouble ?
Proceed carefully 👍🏻

My VW Crafter PVC has 157k on the clock. The first thing I did when I got it home was a timing belt & water pump change, plus a service. It starts on the button and the engine sounds fine. I've got no issues with it.

Reminds me when looking a couple of years back of the xlwb ducato with comformatic, 4 years old and 7k euros. Then I saw the 889,000kms with fsh though and it was ,extremely unusually for Spain, immaculate

Loads of PVCs for sale - get Judy to join Women with campervans for sale on Facebook. Also check Gumtree and Preloved. All better than Fleabay!

I should have mentioned the engines good but the body is about to fall off😳

Correct if the 198,000 is on the motorway in 6th gear. Not correct if its delivering parcels 24/7 in gears 1 to 3.

I've got a 14 plate 4x4 done 270k always with a trailer on and its fine but has main agent serviced from day dot.
What pvc are you after old timer I've got a 2000 Francis duetto that will be up soon

I remember many years ago being on a Campsite in France and chatting to a Dutch chap working there about the Ciyreon BX we had. . He mentioned that he had a pal who was running a Taxis service in Holland where the cars were run 24/7. The cars were brought in for services and Tyre changes etc and when required clutch and gearbox replacements. Apparently he had 2 vehicles in the fleet each in excess of 800,000 km and were still using the original engine with the odd injector or alternator replaced.

Are you sure you are not talking 'Triggers Broom' here

Hi gpat

In Triggers boom case all parts were replaced. Neither of the 2 engines referred too had been replaced in fact neither had had the heads Off however timing belts etc had been replaced as part of the services.

For a van 100k is low mileage, as already been said I’d rather one that’s been driving around then sitting on a drive or in a damp field…

If it's a PVC with high mileage it's almost certainly a white van which has been converted as opposed to one converted from new by one of the MH companies. Nothing wrong with a home conversion - if it was done well of course. :)

If you're talking about PVCs recently converted after a previous life, when I was looking for a base vehicle, you can't go looking with "car buyer" eyes at the mile counters. 100,000 miles was exceptionally low mileage. None of these white vans has sat on the drive with its old granny owner inside the house drinking tea all day.

Thanks.......... But looking for a fairly new one...

Not had time to look properly yet.... looked at many photo`s but will have a good look around when we have the chance...

So not 100% sure on what lay out we want...:smiley:

We have lorries with 500k on the clock and they are our most reliable vehicles

I have a part time job delivering shopping for Tesco, we have 19 plate Sprinters. Now approaching 30k miles the drivers seats are starting to fall apart, most of the 11 trucks at my depot have clonks from the front suspension/steering. The engines seem ok but it's just a matter of time.

Hi.
Quote Mr WH Phillips RIP Haulier Wirksworth Derbyshire some many years ago. " So the jobs knocking the body about, well remember ....... What wears one out ,buys another lad." He and his sons... Legends in their own time. RIP.
