Hi All
Thanks in advance for any advise. So do I or don't I
The thought of spending 53 K gives me the shakes.Seen a lovely looking M/h Chausson
711 Tl 2019 model 9 k miles trade sales. No negotiation on price.Gas no solar or gas low.
We intend to travel to Europe for couple months each year. With two large dogs.
So any advise on how bad the price is.
Or how good this model is.
I have tried to look into the payload and think it's about 400kg spare.I have asked sv
About increasing the payload and told paper exercise to up payload to 3700 kg so will 600 kg will that be enough for 2 month trip to Europe.Sorry so many questions. But don't want to make a mistake spending all that money.
Thanks Tim and Michelle

We have 2019 chausson 640 and have/had two large dogs . Been a great investment for us and had about 90 nights away in it in two years . Definitely get payload increased and you and you partner and two dogs weigh quite a lot . If you are wild camping get solar and we went for gasglow because lpg is common “over there” not so common over here . We’ve done 7.5k miles . Make sure warranties are in place

Chill!

I don't consider it as 'spending' but merely as converting cash into a less liquid asset and it certainly provides more interest than the banks do on the cash.

If you are spending £53k out of the £60k you possess, then it’s not something you should be doing, unless you’ve got a very good pension that provides more than you need for every day living and will therefore replace your reserves.

If it’s £53 k out of,say,£100k or more,then it’s not so daft.

Shrouds don’t have pockets!!!

Enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!(y):giggle:

There is an active Facebook group for Chausson owners, that we have been watching as we consider buying one. We love our Hymer but it’s getting long in the tooth and we don’t have newish Hymer money, mostly what I read is about poor quality issues with Chausson, locker handles continuously breaking, electric table issues etc. Perhaps folk only post when they are having problems and that’s often the case with newish Hymers as well. There is no avoiding the fact that Chausson have some great layouts.

£53k is safer in a MH ATM than it is in cash the way inflation is running ATM!!!!

Upgrading via a paper exercise doesn't increase the permissable load on each axle. It just allows you to distribute the loads between front and rear axles....if possible !!!

Most MH's layouts tend to shed more of their basic weight towards the rear axle.

If in doubt, ask the vendor to take the vehicle to a weighbridge to weigh individual axle loads (unloaded).

The rear axle permissable load will probably be 2000kg. In my view, the difference between the weighbridge measurement on the rear axle, minus 2000kg = your realistic payload.

If you require more payload on the rear axle it depends on the type of rear suspension. ALCO will cost €2k. Simple leaf spring, about £500. The ALCO should give you 2400kg rear. The simple leaf spring, at least 2240kg.

Can’t deny it’s not built like a battleship but in hindsight I’ve spent a couple of hours solving issues with it over the last 2 years but had hundreds of hours pleasure . But I also see people on here with the higher end mohos with similar issues as well

I downsized from a Pilote A Class to a Chausson 530 a couple of years ago. Agree with Jewellbags comments on build quality, however nothing has fallen off or broken and Chausson have some really innovative design features. Only issue has been the panoramic roof light which the dealer sorted under warranty. Usual traveling rattles sorted in a couple of hours.

If I could fit a 711 on my drive, I would have one tomorrow.

Just ensure the van is not one of the hundreds of vans involved in the Chattel Mortgage fraud case.
Most of the vans were Chaussons and Autotrails 2015-2019

I believe there is a list of chassis numbers somewhere
