I'm running my Truma heating on electric at the moment - full blast, 24 hours a day, it's freezing here in the Baltics (as in Wharf, Bristol) but I know that if I use it on gas, I need to remove the vent cover.

I tried to get it off but I couldn't see how to do do it. There seem to be two tabs underneath and one on top but no amount of pressing or pulling would budge it.

Is there a knack or a bit of kit that I don't have?

many many years! since I was a kid
if left on for ages they do tend to stick. plus the plastic is hard in the cold weather

have resorted to careful levering with a claw hammer before now. pull outward from the bottom of the cover

On a previous cover we had, the bottom lugs were 'locators' which dropped into slots, and the top lugs were slider's that had to be moved sideways to release the cover.

As john said a sharp tug on the bottom... i always press as hard down on the top as i can and pull at the bottom..
It can be quite difficult especially if new...

If it's one of these then as others have said, press down on the top and pull at the bottom and it will come away with a bit of a 'snap!' - sorry bit of a cock up with the image - it's on a post below

I usually have to press down on the top and then pull the bottom away.
Exactly, @Janine you need to really use brute force when pressing hard down on the top and pulling hard from he bottom, find a guy near you if possible - it doesn't matter if you break it - fairly cheap to replace. Good luck.

Just get your fingers underneath and give it a sharp pull. They are pretty sturdy bits of plastic.

Hi I have problems and mine is the same as yours you need to use two small screwdrivers or two small normal old thin kitchen table knives and lift up the two locking tabs on the top of the square cover one at a time as you pull out at the top of the whole square cover at the top.

The event cover is on the water heater, you have the truma s3000 series fire which is vented out through the roof, there should be no cover to remove to allow you to use has space heating. As for "do I need a tool?" You've got a Barrie, is that not enough "tool" for one woman?

If so, then you can see the instructions etched on the top of the cowel.

Basically it's the top you need to depress and pull.

Depress with the thumb.

Pull with the fingers.
See below.

Janine if it’s like mine you don’t need to remove it for heating only when you want to heat the water and then it will cut out if you don’t remove the cover. It could be stuck because it has frozen, I pull mine off by holding it with two hands at the top and pull.

Can’t help I’m afraid Janine - but from past experience I do know they can be a bugger to remove!! Get a bloke to do it and then you won’t break your nails!! Lol

That's the one! I used female logic and read those arrows to mean 'slide it sideways'
