Waiting to empty and fill while leaving the camper stop at Gouda. The van in front (French) filled with fresh water then emptied his toilet down the grey water drain. He then washed the toilet with the drinking water tap. He put the hose right down into the toilet cassette and filled and emptied it a few times until it ran clear. He then took this short hose back to the van he had borrowed it from.

I emptied but didn't fill!

Nice the Fraanch they are soooo clever !

Having been forced to use a public toilet (that's if you could really call it a toilet) in France many moons ago, my brother HAD to stand by the door, I can believe it....disgusting.

No photos? Did you say anything to him at least?

Chateaudun camper stop. I kid you not, two small stone foot plates and a hole. Very dark very damp.
That was last year.

Ditto, I hope someone had a word with this Frenchman, he needs to be educated once & forever! :swear:

I hope you said something, I always have a go at them when they do that.

I would guess that what you describe as "the grey waste drain" is actually just a ground level grey/black drain as some vans have ground level dumping for the grey and toilet tank, apart from that I agree with your sentiments wholeheartedly.

I have noticed that some dump points are putting a guard around the fresh tap to try to stop the cassette being washed out.

To one side of this there was a proper chemical toilet emptying point together with its own rinse hose.

I don't know where this was but one we stopped had a grey water and a black one for emptying, but when tipped in they both ran straight out into a ditch.

Not sure it mattered what nationality they were but I'd guarantee no one Dutch would have done this. They are so clean and correct and are insanely protective of their waterways and the surrounding eco system.

I had previously decided not to fill up here due to the proximity of the chem and fresh water. Wanted photo but phone not handy. I decided right or wrong not to speak to him but my wife jumped out and had a go. Couldn't understand his answers.

I have been to Gouda and remember the cassette dump being quite high up, we use/need ground level dumping and I would say that nearly all ground level grids are combined black and grey or I hope that they are 🤞 if itsaid grey water only that would be different and quite rare.

I just feel sorry for the guy whose hose he borrowed who knew nothing of how he'd used it.

In my experience the Dutch are just as bad as the French.

totally agree , And Belgium's , not seen many on this trip but just come away from Dijon and its nearly all Belgium vans. I always take a bottle of antiviral spray and wipes every time i fill with water wherever i am , don't trust any of them. In fact my pastime on Aires is watching them park and empty better than watching tuggers set up on an English campsite.

There is a lot of nationality judging going on in this thread. If you use a fresh hose to dip in faeces and chuck the same crap in the wrong place, you are a dirty sod.

Makes no difference if you are British, Dutch, etc.

That’s why I never use a hose provided.

We are in Galicia. On a serviced motorhome parking we watched a motorhomer (nationality known but not posted here, but not a local) empty his black tank on the grey water point. He then spent about 45 minutes chasing the sh1t down the grey water grid with the hose. He DID leave it clean and tidy, but down the wrong place 🤬

He moved, slightly, off the service area but then used the hose to wash down his motorhome.

In Spain, with the water situation here overall!!!!

It was the Dijon Aire where I had a right shout at a French guy rinsing his cassette under the fresh water tap.

So how come , early in the morning, I caught one emptying his cassette over a stone wall at Kynance Cove?

Have met heaps of Dutch People over time, they all spoke impeccable English,

not this fella tho!!!

"England no talk "

Hard to find a Dutch person that doesn't speak English.

I am genuinely interested to know how you can tell that a ground level drain is for "grey water only" and goes someplace other than the sewer, that said he obviously didn't have a macerator on his black tank so I can only imagine the problem.

We can only go by the fact that the toilet dump wasn't at ground level. Whether they both went down the same place, we don't know. But, watching someone chasing the lumps through a grid wasn't a good thing to see.

OK (y) my take on that would be that the cassette dump is placed higher for the convenience of people with bad backs but the "grey waste" is actually just ground level dumping and will all go to the same sewer, I can imagine the amusement watching him chase bits around with the hose but I will add that if he had a macerator there would be nothing more than black water, we get told on UK club sites that we can't dump our black down the ground level drain because of "stuff" getting stuck on the grid, they know that it all goes to the same place but are ignorant to the workings of a black tank, or maybe they have had your guy with his "lumpy black waste":LOL:

No need to chase lumps, pick them up and squish them between your fingers and wash the mushed up food waste down the grid. It's only poo and it was inside you recently and you probably used tissue paper to wipe your bum clean. Not much difference

Completely agree that using a fresh water hose pushed inside a shitty cassette is gross though
