My son did Leicester to Inverness on his bike a couple of years ago with a small tent and minimal kit he has made his own tent now to his own plan (not yet finished and tried it)

when we were up north last year, there were quite a few cyclists doing the NW500 on push bikes with minimal kit. in the pissing rain. mad i say.
