Looking forward to our first visit to France this coming weekend. Question - with the current uk fuel prices am I better off filling up with diesel in Dover or soon after I arrive in France? What is the current cost per litre in France?

Thanks

We returned from France 3 weeks ago and at that time it was cheaper over there, also we found the best supermarket was 'Super U ', hopefully has returned since and give you a more recent price.

We returned from France mid May. Its cheaper over there. We calculated that as long as it was below €2.10 we were saving money. Filled up with deisel on 13th May for €1.64. French government have subsidised fuel prices from between 4 & 8% depending on the area. I think until at least end of June.

We are enroute back to the shuttle and the price away from the motorway varies a little but between E1.79 an E1.89 in most supermarkets a few of the biggest
Sellers like Shell etc are around the E2 mark.

Just paid E1.87 for diesel today, around towns anywhere from E1.85 to E1.97, over E2 on the motorway. It has gone up since last fill but had 2 bank holidays in France and this does impact on prices

Please be aware of unattended pumps, card precharged to the value of €150 had this happen near Lucon as reported in my thread PLYMOUTH2PLYMOUTH.
Takes upto 31 days for monies to be returned!!!!

From North to South of France over the last 3 weeks it’s all been in the €1.80’s at supermarkets.

We are just north of Lyon and have seen most fuel stations adverising €2 and above, as much as €2.14 in one

We did, however, manage to get diesel today at €1.88 at E.Leclerc SAINT GEORGES DE RENEINS

Filled up just north of St Tropez today @ Carrefour 1.99 euro’s.
Have seen 2.26 on our travels.

We arrived in Caen this afternoon and can't believe the change..... now in Evron and the cheapest I've see diesel is €1.99, apparently the reason it was so much lower 3 weeks ago was the Gov did reduction, but, that has now been removed...... Hope this update helps !!!

Depends where you go. Last week, in Normandy, I never saw derv for less than €1.90. Highest I saw was on the peage, a preposterous €2.40 per litre.

Diesel fuel down here in the south of France is today about 194.9 € to 205.9 € per litre. Diesel has jumped 13 Cents in the last week.
The French Government have reduced tax by 18 Cents per litre and the retail prices include this. Despite the reduction it an expensive product!

Leclerc in Saumur today €2.01, wasn’t filling up but saw it as we walked to Decathlon.

This morning the same filling station €2.08, and have driven a couple of hundred miles ( none on M/ way) and not seen it cheaper, in fact at E. Leclerc it was €2.12

Until today that is. It was €2.05 at Arles Intermarche this morning. No shortage of customers though, so must be the going rate around there now.

€1.99 at SuperU in Joinville on Tuesday. Last lot was €1.90 at Auchan, Chatillon, three weeks ago. Just shows how prices are rising all the time.

Not read above.
We have filled up twice in the last 3 day's, both times it was €2.19 and €2.09 ltr
