I'm a newbie
When filling up with diesel recently I noticed that the filler cap would not lock. Had it out today and can't seem to find anything obviously wrong. It seems to be a sealed unit so no way of getting onto it to see what is happening. Anyone know where to buy a new one for a Hymer B644 2000 model or possible a way to fix the original.

Thanks
Peter

They lock by 'unlocking' the outer (the bit you turn to remove it) from the inner (the bit that hold it into the filler). So when they fail to lock it's usually because the two parts are not free to move relative to one another. I've freed mine on more than one occasion by locking it then rotating the inner relative to the outer whilst it's immersed in petrol or white spirit. Once free drowning it with silicone spray keeps it free for some time.

Try putting it in hot water, my water cap was the same but giving it a bath sorted, been fine for 4 years now.( 2001 Hymer)
