We have just purchased a 2017 Dethleffs Globus I1 and the fridge will only work with the 12 volt control panel switched on, even with the engine running meaning it has to be driven with it switched on, seems unusual to me. Also are new motorhomes supposed to be supplied with a Carbon Monoxide alarm fitted?

We have a 2016 Dethleffs, I think ours is the same and we don't have Carbon Monoxide alarm fitted.. Our control panel remains on..

Getting better month by month.
Although not a Dethleff, I need the 12v panel on on my Sunlight. This is the only MH I have owned so cannot comment on whether or not it is the norm. Mine didn't come with a CO detector just the fire detector.

On most vans the fridge won't work on 12 volt if the engine isn't running.

we have only had European motorhomes, never think to ever turn off our control panel, can't think why it would need to be off?

no CO monitor in ours, only cost about £20 and prefer to have it loose, move it around sometimes (although we do have 2 one each end), as we have an Alde system in the garage under the bed

My Dethleffs is the same.
There is no legal requirement to Fitting a carbon monoxide alarm.
you can get them for about a tenner, so peace of mind, worth getting one.(y)

Our fridge light only works when the panel is turned on, but the fridge still works without it switched on.
Are you sure that its just the light that doesn't work without the panel turned on?

We have only had foreign motorhomes so are used to leaving 12v on. Why would you want to turn it off?

From memory it is only a requirement of the NCC to have 12v off while driving, which is why British vans work that way. May be sensible for a caravan but daft for a motorhome.

Same as Jezport with ours
Fridge works on 12v but light is through pannel switch.
Also as Jezport I think, we have a Globecar which are built in the Dethleffs factory
