Maybe been asked before and I understand there is lots of variables, but what would you say is a fair price in terms of depreciation for a used Motorhome, we got ours in Feb and nosily asked about a part ex, they offered us 10 grand less than what we paid??

If it was £10,000 when you bought it ouch!, if it was £70,000 fair enough :) if it was £500,000 you have had a result :D2

One dealer told me they need £7,000 in a van to turn it around, I thought that was a little high but then he was calling me from Barbados

I guess it depends on what you paid new
£10k off a £300k van is bearable

What was the list price of the van ?
How much ch did you actually pay?

Sorry didn’t really make sense, the van being sold is £149k paid £105k for mine, I expect they’re trying it on, but if 7k is average to turn one around (still sounds steep) and bearing in mind the profit margin on the newer van they’d be double quids in. Anyhow no rush to sell just curious.??

My understanding is that campervans depreciate slower than motorhomes, not sure about the truth in that though.

This is an example of my old van, the one in the Avatar -
a 680 Starline. The numbers quoted are retail price.
April 14 72k
April 17 70k
Summer19 67k

The first price is accurate, I paid it! The next 2 prices were the advertised price so there may have been some haggle room, although knowing the dealer, probably not much.

there is a lot behind retail price, everything from wages and rent through to warranty and backup. trading in a van or selling privately, you would not achieve anywhere near retail.
dealers quote trade price at most

Just posted this in another thread. I have sold my van privately, buying another from dealer with sale proceeds plus £1000.
If done by trading in, dealer wanted my van plus £8000.

Terry242, those figures look very good, I thought the market was very good currently, m home sales increasing year on year, ok I bought British and bespoke so to speak, it just re in forcing my lack of of trust in RS currently, can’t fault their quality of work, customer service is another thing altogether, although seems that is an issue across the Motorhome sector.
