Decision made NOT going

Yesterday we made that decision not to go on our 3 week trip to France , due to our personal health risk assessment. shame as was looking forward to it .

On doing this I thought I'd check with the RAC to see if my european cover could be transfered to next year or a credit note ,
No they gave me a full refund !! RESULT !!

I then contacted Saga insurance to see if I could get similar , told they could refund me 4/5ths , deducting for originally raising the policy & now cancelling it . another RESULT !! as I had set it up with no cancelation cover.

Now waiting to get the Tunnel crossing changed by nice young lady at Eurotunnel customer service , changing to June 2021.

I didn't expect to anything back from either , but well chuffed with my result , You don't get nuffing if you don't ask .

I'm surprised you got your booking changed that far into 2021. They are not releasing bookings past February. We just tried to change ours to May 2021 but they couldn't do it. Got a refund back to our frequent traveller account.

I presume it must have been just the 3 weeks

Been expecting this , unfortunately, we have decided the same havnt booked the tunnel so nothing to do there, never thought about getting green flag money back, travel insurance comes with the nfu house insurance and it's not a lot so won't bother getting anything off that as we may still do Xmas markets.
Very glad we did the earlier trip now, had a real good time but it reminded us what we are missing.
Hope things are better next year.

Hi FIDJET.
Just got off the phone to E/Tunnel. They are sending a Voucher/Credit note..Valid for One year,we have to wait until our new dates of travel come online ( April '21 ) if its more we pay the extra. Our tickets were for Sept out Calais-Back Oct,Folkstone... Hope this helps,rang the French number.Very helpful chap,but as mentioned in a post, we have also dealt in the past with a very helpful Lady... Jobs a good 'un.

My son works for the RAC and they have been refunding European cover 'no questions asked' for several months now. You go through to the sales team who are happy to do it as opposed to the retentions lot, who would try to persuade you otherwise, if you just tried to cancel everything.

Thanks for the info ref RAC. Having read it hubby called them this morning and we also got our European cover returned. Had to tell operator that others had got it as initially said no. She spoke to manager and we got it. Brill Thanks a lot

Could have book a new date but will sit tight and hope things are more settled next year
Had been thinking of postponing for a while
