Sad ain't I? :xblink:

Anyhoo discovered that my charge unit was set to "gel" so changed it to "flooded" seems to have made a difference. Used to get a float charge of 14.3 now am getting 14.7!
Checked solar controller and it was set to "gel" will see over next few days what difference that makes!
BTW our batteries are "flooded" :xgrin:

Have all chargers & Solar controllers got this or is it just your`s, Ken..

Being a numpty like me how does one tell if it is set to the right battery.. ?:xsad:

Mines a Hobby Siesta and I cannot find any switch on the charger to change it from gel to wet batteries. Does anyone know of any switch on the Hobby please.

Ok i took my charger off. On the bottom was a "jumper" just took it out and moved it to "flooded"
On the solar reg. There is also a jumper in this case i just removed it!

Hope this helps!

A lot of chargers have change over jumpers or switches, some solar controllers do and some, like mine, have a detection circuit built in ( though baffled how it can tell even though it does ! )

Not wanting to hijack Ken`s post... But how do you tell.. ?:xsmile:

if you have a newish van with the original batteries it 'should' have been set correctly by the convertor.. I say 'should' but don't trust them..

Have a look at the charger , as said, some have switch to change form gel to wet ..

If it is set to gel (as ken's was) and you have wet cells it won't do any damage, .. but if you have gels and it is set to wet it will cook them ..

so do you have gels or wets ?

If you can't determine have it checked at your next hab check ..

While we're talking about chargers and solar how do I tell if my solar panel is wired to charge my Vechile battery also.

2 X 185 amp H..... the ones with the little caps on the top.. (y)

can't say from that info mo..

I suspect they are wets, not many vans come with gels as standard ... can you not see the label.. ?

No, Jim they are jammed in under one of the seat`s..

Would have to take the seat base to bit`s to get to them..:(

They have got six caps on the top and taking a couple off they are full of water, Liquid any way up to and just over the long silver looking bit`s.. (y)

Thanks, Jim....... I will leave as they are.... all three panels seem OK and they charge when on EHU, or Gennie & Panel`s.... (y)

So guess the switches are in the right place..
